The official running thread™

No running for me today. Will stick to the exercise bike for now until the knee feels up to scratch again. It felt weird being on the bike again. One bonus is that it's much easier to stay in zone 2. (Oh, and I forgot what a pain in the ass it is! Literally.)

I also found that running on a treadmill makes it easier to stick to zone 2. Set it to a 6 km/h pace and you should be in the 140s HR wise. Would I recommend it? Nope. I loathe the treadmill.
 
Puma Nitro run in Durbs tomorrow, where we get to try out the new range. Get to do a 5km with a great crowd along the promenade.

My mom got a 40% off Bash voucher and wanted to surprise me by buying me a pair of shoes and she went and bought the one type of shoe i CANNOT wear... Bceause "they looked cool"... They gt returned and rip 40% off voucher but Totalsports had the pink ones in stock in my size 🥲🥲🥲

She got me the Nike Vomero Plus... Really good shoe but its got a 10mm drop and extreme cushion.

I can't use max cushion shoes and ones with more than an 8mm drop. I don't have the best feet and probably more towards the end of terrible feet...

I have had 2 max cushion shoes and both killed my feet, i recently had a pair of Gel Nimbus 27's and they hurt my feet so bad it took about a week to recover from it.

I tried the Nikes on and i hated the feel of them, just walking around i could feel how they were irritating my feet. I also hated how heavy they were, like my NB 1080's v14 is heavy but this made that feel light.

There might be a bit of a break in but i refused to accept a R3600 shoe (paid like R2200 or whatever with discount) knowing the chances of me liking it in the end were very low.

Waiting on Bash to see if we can get the 40% voucher reinstated/reissued to get something else 🥲

She knows i am very specific with the shoes i wear and all but chose to ignore that

I think you are confusing it with the Deviate. The Deviate Pure Nitro is the newest shoe. There wasn't a version last year. Pure Nitro doesn't have a carbon plate.

I get their names so confused.

I have a carbon plated Reebok shoe and love it so would give this one with carbon a go... Happy for the none carbon plated one..

We getting new Reebok stock in at the momenet so hoping to snag another carbon plate one for fast runs

Yeah, their naming is getting a bit confusing. The Deviate Nitro were always the shoes with the carbon plate. Now they have the Deviate Pure Nitro without the plate. Which is basically a direct competitor to the Velocity Nitro 4.

I'm a bit skittish for carbon plates. My Deviate Nitro 3 gave me a black toenail that lasted for months.

I could tell from just walking in the house they were hurting the sides of my feet. They went back to TotalSports.

I don't like my mom buying me gifts unless its a birthday, Christmas etc, she is retired so money is limited
 
In the last 12 weeks, I have broken my Roodepoort Parkrun PB 6 times, and my overall Parkrun PB once. My previous PBs (overall and Roodepoort) were 8 years ago. I don't know what suddenly changed.

Tried the new Deviate, my feet were crying.. Handed the pair back and asked for my Nitro's and enjoyed the run.
