[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

I have 2 Hisense TVs with VIDAA OS and the only time I needed to plug in a external TV box in the last 30 months was for a better web browser experience. I don't really see the hate to be honest.

It really depends on the class of TV, the higher end models will have better cpu and memory so the experience isn't so bad, but this is regards to things like picture and sound as well.

The Best Mini-LED for the Money? Hisense U7SG Review - CalebRated

The Hisense U7SG has a lot to live up to. The U7 series has consistently been one of my favorite price-to-performance TVs, but with Hisense’s new RGB Mini-LED models sitting above it, I wanted to know whether the U7SG could still deliver the kind of value that made this series so easy to recommend.

I tested picture quality, HDR brightness, color accuracy, motion, gaming, reflections, upscaling, audio and more — and compared a lot of what I found with its closest rival, the TCL QM7L.

The bottom line: the U7SG is once again one of the easiest TVs to recommend for the money.

We don't seem to get this model here in ZA, what is an equivalent?

I have an older 65" Hisense model (bought in 2021), running VIDAA 4.0, and while I also have an Android TV box, my wife prefers VIDAA now due to Dolby Atmost and Vision (as my Netogy Nova obviously doesn't) and haven't had an issue with the TV the past 5 years I've owned it. But man, ever since Android TV 14 dropped, its been a smooth ride. Everything is so much more responsive, the only downside being that it doesn't have Dolby Vision / Atmos.

I do have one quirk though and that is with the Disney+ app on my Hisense set. They launched the new app 2 days ago, and its a million times better than the old one. However, on VIDAA, its still running the old one. Now, I can find the new Disney+ app on the VIDAA appstore, which I can install, open it works etc - however, exiting the new updated app and going back to the home screen, and opening up D+ again, still opens the older version. On the VIDAA App store, if you Install and then choose to "Uninstall" the D+ app, nothing happens. If I exit completely (go back to Android TV) and open up VIDAA again, the D+ app in the app store is back to "Install" again.

If I try to uninstall via the Home menu, I long pressed on the D+ icon to get the "Uninstall" option (the TV even gives me the notification), but all it does on my model is allow me to move the bloody icon around under my favourite apps. Seems like the D+ app is "hard baked" into the firmware and nothing I seem to try allows me to uninstall it. Is there anything else I can try? I really love the new D+ app, but VIDAA doesn't "approve" me to install the latest version available.

I know I can always just use my Android TV box, but since my wife uses VIDAA to launch all platforms these days, I want D+ also update to the latest version to enjoy Dolby Vision and Atmos for the movies/series that do support it.

Guess I'll need to wait for a new firmware to drop that will at least have the app updated to the latest version, or is there anything else I can try?

Your wife is into Dolby Vision and Atmos. 😮
I'm impressed. My wife would think it's the name of a car...
