R2,500 per month cellphone and data allowance for government employees

Government municipal managers and those directly under them have received new limits on how much they can be paid, including a new cellphone and data allowance of R2,500 per month.

The gazette, signed by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, set new upper limits for the remuneration packages payable to these managers.

Well since you asked...

The last time was like this. Exec asked how much data he has to work from home.

15GB I said.

Had to do topups everyday of 10GB. 1 SMS of no data was 1H after topup.

And oh jirrre the shitstorm I had to answer for.

Why are we doing so many topups? He is an Exec, he gave permission
Why is he not using his internet at home? : Ask him was my reply
What is he doing with the data : Ask him was my reply
Why was there not something else done : Ask him, nothing I could do 5 minutes before he left for vacation.

One of the reasons I despise WFH.
I do not understand why an IT department needs to get involved with your WFH situation.
If you can't work remotely, then come to the office where IT ensures there is internet.

*FYI, the SIM was removed and inserted to a WiFi hotspot for the kids to watch Youtube.

How much are their family members showing as employees on the system getting their phones for?
