You must be a ray of sunshine at parties.
Obviously it was for the $$ but the rugby world cup is being held in the US in 2031. Which two teams could deliver a more exciting match to draw more people into rugby than South Africa and New Zealand?

The yanks have lost control of their own MRL league.
I already said.... the concern is about control, not $$.
Rugby is a non starter in the US.
However the powers that be continue to try and change that.
Why? Because the current business model isn't sustainable. Rugby union simply isn't profitable. Tapping into the US market would change that. Dramatically!!

It is, without question.
10 world cups 7 of which are shared between SA and NZ.
And SA was excluded from the first 2.
The Boks have won 4 out of the 8 world cups they've competed in.
How's that for a stat?

It is probably the greatest rivalry but there was never a need to belabour the point.
Now the American news is using that slogan as though it has always been used the way it is being used now.
It's quite obviously a contrived marketing strategy to sell RU in the US.

Contrived marketing? Nah, good marketing. Factually correct marketing too. Importantly marketing that hasn’t over promised and under delivered. In fact, all indications are that the series has exceeded mosts expectations.
Why so sure the US market can't be captured then? Maybe it will ignite with 'Muricans in a few years.

World rugby has been trying for the last 50 years.
There are so many reasons why it hasn't worked.
But for me the tell tale sign is how the MRL is imploding.

ABs will be desperate to avoid 3 straight losses and a series loss to boot. Although for me the Boks have won the series already. 2-1...
Hope the Boks put them away with a decisive 12-15 point win.,. In reality it is more likely to be another 1 score game.
