Hi, for the past 2 weeks we have been getting severe packet loss between 18:30 and 22:00. We are with Home Connect. We reported and followed up multiple times and still hasn't been fixed. I used 3 different tools to test, , and command line (ping google.com -n 50 was the command I used). From https://openpacketloss.com/ it seems to be an incoming/download packet loss problem. We were told that it will be resolved within 24-72 hours and it has been more than 2 weeks. Will switching ISP to Afrihost using Openserve line fix this problem. I got a google document date and time stamped showing my command line findings (I passed them this also).
Regards

Netflix hours... your ISP is to blame... going to Afrihost will likely be worse

Hi, if it was Home Connect related it would then probably be affecting Afrihost and Axxess, so more than likey FNO congestion.

Either way will pop you a test account to try?

Nope, as PBCool said it's probably the FNO hardware in the street, the uplink on the switches can't handle all that traffic, that's why they need to upgrade it to 100G or whatever switches.

Hi, so correct me if I am wrong here, but the fix would be to switch from Zoom fibre's cables to Openserve? We currently using Zoom fibre's cables.

Hi,

We sincerely apologise for the ongoing inconvenience and frustration this has caused.

Could you please provide a reference number for this issue? We will ask the Home-Connect team to contact you directly to help resolve the matter.

Good day. Sorry for the very late reply. I didn't get a notification. The reference number is <redacted>. I sent an PM with the reference.

@OP, look at the crap I have to deal with... No use complaining as they'll blame my router once again.
The images won't load, they load one at a time with dial-up speed.

Of course, local traffic is as fast as a cheetah. As an ISP CEO famously once said:
"Your router needs to be attuned to the line"

Four minutes later and the thumbnails are half-loaded...

But I must pay nearly a R1000 a month for this garbage

And when we turn on NORDVPN... oh my god it loads...

Just one of many, many overseas sites that don't work properly on these premium FTTH services.
I'd love to know how my router is possessed, to have the cognitive ability to say "OK TODAY WE THROTTLE ANY SITE OUTSIDE OF ZA"

Just bypass the router to test? If its the same then it can't be the router right.

It's none of those things. It's been going on for the past two years. It's Octotel.
Octotel is a layer2 provider, how would they have an effect on images loading on a website? Unless it is MTU related.

overseas stuff = DOG SLOW
local stuff = FAST
Some sites in Asia take like 2-3 minutes to load.
Anything outside of RSA and not on a CDN is slow, dog slow...
