Hello everyone,
I am writing about my terrible experience with my Ellies LifeLynk Gamma 3.6kW (rebranded Sunsynk)
June 2023 I was selected as a winner in the Astron Energy FreshStop Stay Lit competition - with the prize being a LifeLynk Gamma including installation.
In July 2023 the inverter...
So it seems I also joined the cool kids club for once in my life
Had my system installed by Smart Tech Solar just after the start of the month.
Would definitely recommend them if you are planning to do a install soon.
Now some pics before I start messing around with more trunking on...
[December 2021]

How much money you can save by installing solar power
Grid-tied solar systems can lead to significant electricity bill savings over the years, despite the high equipment and installation costs.

Best inverters for beating load-shedding
South Africans looking for a capable home backup power system should take great care when choosing an inverter.

Hi
I have installed a Sunsynk 5Kw with a 5Kwh Greenrich batter - I bought 2 x JA 460 panels to test the PV side. My problem is that the inverter does not seem to pick up the PV correctly.
The 2 panels are connected in series.
Please help, does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
I'm writing this with a heavy heart.
My system is a 124 days old and we had a severe lightning storm and rain during the night and my property/solar panels were presumably struck by lightning because at that moment everything just died.
All the indicator lights on the 5kW Sunsynk hybrid...
We moved house in late November 2022 and left our small Victron ESS behind as my BIL bought our old house which gave us an opportunity for a fresh start with a new ESS at our new house. Our previous house was a typical Parkhurst size house, when we renovated we removed the electric geyser and...
So yesterday was day 365 of my initial install. Some stats and thoughts on the last year below:
All in all i should have done this sooner as the benefits have been immense. Our area periodically gets plagued by an unwell substation - system keeps performing. Also managed to drastically reduce...
I think its time we had a Home Assistant thread here.
I'll start -
I setup the steaming heap of poop that is home assistant (yet again), and configured with some stats earlier this evening.
This was after ditzing about for hours on Sunday with different versions of HA - 64bit, 8rc2, 7.x...
The wife and I decided to bite the bullet - and get clear of Eskom before winter started!
Goals:
1.) Power is a must as we WFH
2.) Pay Eskom as little as possible
3.) Over spec for winter so we can add appliances later / I don't need or want to play solar police
We got 4 quotes, spec'd it out...
