Interconnect Arrangement?
I want to know though... what is the interconnect arrangement between VoIP providers?
Essentially a physical connection between the VoIP provider and incumbents (Telkom / Vodacom / MTN / CellC & Neotel). Most VoIP providers who are recognised through ICASA have allocated 087 number ranges, only a minority have ACTUAL INTERCONNECT arrangements, which essentially closes the "true" VoIP provider loop. The simple test - If you are about to do business with a VoIP provider, ask for their 087 number, call it from the Cell networks and Telkom network, if it connects, then you have an interconnect in place!
Have a look at the Telkom to VoIP providers link below - http://www.telkom.co.za/common/pricelist/prices/local/custtomer_to_automatic_exh.html , interesting on the rates, which are rates are the same until you go per second!
