I think the local prices for storage are a bit ridiculous. While we pay around R2000 for a 1TB drive here, our fellow PC enthusiasts over in Europe are purchasing them for anywhere from R500 to R900 less. And is it just me or does it seem like cost-per-meg goes up for some larger drives when in fact it should be coming down?

Sooo... who has had their drive run for 85 years now without a failure?

For a business environment, what do people think is better: many smaller drives or few massive drives? Does one consider the idea of how much can be lost in a single drive dying?

Anyway, I've had my 1TB drive for around 3 weeks now ... looks like I need another one ... I'm full up already. So many things to buy, so little money available.

Monkeys, in my opinion... They should know that MTBF means that the average drive will fail at around 750'000h...

The R/MB will go up with bigger drives (such as the 500/1T/1.5T) because they are doing you a favour- less physical space required in your case...

Mathematically, the MTBF is the sum of the MTTF (mean time to failure) and MTTR (mean time to repair). The MTTF is simply the reciprocal of the failure rate

Seems like someone has money. Or sounds like it at least. Not buying a computer right now. There are some prices in today's "good computer" that should still fall, long before better components replace it.
