i was at the MTN store in Canal Walk yesterday and they said they get 10 iphones a week.

WHAT! 10 iphones a week means the can only sell 520 a year! How stupid is this?!

obviously it's only the one store but still, why would they do that?

Or am i being stupid? (this should be my next signature)

In retail it works like that. Depending on the size and volume of business you do, you get allocated a specific number of stock each week. Why would they give the branch 5000 iPhones a week when there is no demand for it at that specific branch?

They decided on that number based on overall performance. If the branch can prove to head office they sell way more than that, they would obviously get more stock each week... which in turn would be re-evaluated constantly and pushed back to a lower stock level as demand subsides.

You may change your signature now...

dude, the whole country is on a waiting list for iphones. MTN Canal walk is the biggest MTN retail outlet in Cape Town. Getting in 10 iphones a week is the most ridiculous thing i've heard all day. They should be selling that many on a weekday, never mind how many more they could push on weekends. "You may change your signature now" !?! what an obnoxious asinine baseless statement to make.

Ja, it is upsetting. shirou hope that your phone gets replaced soon. The problem is that there are only the FOUR stores of mtn that stock the iphone. The 2 in canal walk, the cbd and tygervalley.. This makes me assume at the most cape town gets 50 iphones a week...?

You mean MTN in Cape Town gets 50 a week, not Cape Town itself, because I'm sure Vodacom gets a few as well right?

one would think. yet i've been "number 7 on the waiting list" for more than 2 weeks now.

I received my iPhone 4 yesterday after its been in for repairs at JHB for 9days.. I get it back with the exact same problem, only new thing that came with it was a scratch on the back! So i took it back yesterday and its going to JHB again!

Have you received a new phone yet?
Mine was handed in at Canal Walk on 1 Nov... Sent to Jhb and destined for replacement in that same week... At the moment I am still waiting.
Nobody in the entire Vodacom seems to have a clue on when they will get new phones in...

I was on the waiting list at MTN rondebosch in CT 2 weeks ago...and the guy said we were number 80. Got it today! Try there maybe? They were really helpful.
