I have recently moved house to Waterkloof, Pretoria and is now the proud owner of a 10 Mb Telkom ADSL line.
I am currently with PLUGG on 4 Mb uncapped and really very happy.
Their 10 Mb uncapped too expensive, so dilemma is - who gives the best 10 Mb home uncapped?
My usage is mostly browsing during the day, download during evening with not more than 200 GB downloads in a month.

Afrihost 10mb uncapped bundle R897 per month, including ADSL rental...

Thanx guys.

You think Afrihost problems all sorted. Used to be with them, but deserted

All issues are sorted now - they are running like a dream :)

The new IPCs have been installed in Cape Town, a few hiccups in the last few days with some hardware on Telkom's side, but otherwise the service is Top Notch now - it was worth hanging in there for us.

I have my line with Afrihost as well, and I can still switch providers if I wanted to - With Afrihost, I can reset the ports/fix my line quite easily via the client zone online. They also always try their best to sort out Telkom issues, where they can.
Just means my line is managed through Afrihost.

Our 10Mbps is very price competitive, and with our network upgrades in place, it's one of the fastest around. Give it a spin. Drop me a PM and we'll chat about details :)

i got a 25% discount from telkom on my 4mb uncapped bundle so am paying 525 for adsl rental + uncapped data for 4mb.

wish afrihost was as cheap so I could move to them...

Can one download up to 2TB a month now on the Afrihost accounts? I couldn't and for now use the 10Mbit Openweb Silver Red special account, and easily to 2TB a month on it.

Can anyone comment on Afrihost shaping policies on 10MB?

I doubt I'd use more than 250-300GB a month, depending whats on - mostly 50% distribution between streaming and nntp downloads.

I don't want to get into a situation where I can't stream during the day because of some shaping policy. The streaming only requires 2-3Mb/s

2TB! :wtf:

Leave some internet for us :D

Hehe. I don't even come close to that in a year :D

If anyone has moved over to Afrihost in the past few weeks, please advise on whether or not things are cool. Starting to get the $h!ts with TI.

Apparently you have to be a long time adsl customer in order to qualify.

EDIT: And have to demand it. 10210.

They phoned me to offer it.... But my contract was over and on a month to month, so I guess they wanted me to commit to a further 12 months... Upgraded my line from 1 meg to 2 and the discount still applies :)

Where or how?

I was not a long time customer. I was with them for about three months and didnt actually like the service so I cancelled. I got a call from someone in JHB offering me the 25% discount and at that rate I decided to put up with the few issues I have,

I got a buddy to call in and ask for it (10210) and they gave it to him as well. 525 for 4mb uncapped with rental is the cheapest deal I could find...
