Not really, I was only with them for two to three months...
They phoned me to offer it.... But my contract was over and on a month to month, so I guess they wanted me to commit to a further 12 months... Upgraded my line from 1 meg to 2 and the discount still applies
Yep, they offered it to me when I was trying out the 1MB package and I changed to the 4mb package and the discount still stood.

it is for 12 months but not really a contract as they said I could cancel at any time. I don't see anyone beating that price though so will probably be on it for longer than that.
I've just done it ! Called 10210. Select the option to "cancel or downgrade broadband" (or something like that) and tell the operator you'd like the 25% discount. They will tell you it's a 12 month contract, but you can upgrade/downgrade at anytime as long as you are not cancelling. The discount applies to any of their Uncapped offers, including 2MB which works out to R345pm including rental. Now on 4MB Uncapped for R525pm 
So, it turns out my exchange doesn't support 4MB 
Telkom has put me back on 2MB Uncapped, but at a reduced rate of R344pm. Can't really complain about that. Service is working great as well for the past few days.

I called 10210 and they bumped me up to 4MB Uncapped but the lady says the price is R590 not R525. Not too bothered because its still an awesome deal. I doubled my speed for around R120 more than I'm currently paying.
Now the problem arises of whether or not my line will handle 4MB.
Below are my stats, what do you guys think?

I suspect Telkom may have gotten a lot of calls about this since it became known on here. A mate of mine also called them, and they said they will have someone call him in a few days to discuss. I got mine done almost immediately over the phone.
There is 2 discounts. One for the line and one for the account. It sounds like you only got one of the discounts. I did it a week ago and I am paying R525. However, like you say, cheaper is cheaper. It's nice either way

Tell your bud to call again and they can do the upgrade immediately.
My call was painless, the lady I dealt with knew what I wanted and the whole thing took 15min.
She said my line should be running at 4MB tomorrow and the 4MB uncapped has already been applied.
Super efficient service from Telkom I must say.

If they give me 25% on the uncapped account then does that mean I'm stuck with TI as an ISP for 12 months too?
I'm not concerned about being stuck with TI as an ISP for 12 months, its just that I like having the freedom to choose another ISP should things go to sh@t.
The lady I spoke to said that the discount only applies to the Line and not the uncapped.
But I'll call them again when I get home and double check with them.

from my understanding can be applied to any of the 3 : ie
uncapped ISP account
Or ADSL rental
OR normal line rental (this is dumb as u get lowest discount)
She's misinformed. I got the discount on the complete bundled package at R525 when I was signed up for the 4MB. When they moved me back to 2MB, they still gave me a full 25% on that as well, so I'm paying R344 instead of R459. Have to say, the service has been working really well for me. Had a few hiccups here and there bundled with some mild frustration, but since the beginning of this week, it's been stellar.
Its 25% on both adsl rental + data. Paid 525 for the last month and paid even less the previous month. they screwed up and charged me for 1mb uncapped with 25% discount. I had to call in and correct this... Yep my conscience wouldn't let it lie.
