HI there; My adsl line is currently sync-ing at 4mbps but when i go to the telkom 10mbps adsl checker on the telkom website it says that my line can sync at 10 mbps but when i phone telkom they say that my line cal only support up to 4mbps; when i tell them that on their website that it can support up to 10 on the website they telling me that it is impossible; 4 guys who live in my area have 10 mbps adsl lines;any idea what to do and also what is the number to phone to get upgraded i have tried 10215 and 0800375375.
 
I have the same problem! I am in Jhb now, but when I go back home, sparks are gonna fly if I am not on to 10mbps ;)
 
my modem says its attainable rate is 9 mbps down and 1 up and that its ADSL 2+ but it syncs at 4mbps , sigh

I have the same problem and can't get them to upgrade me to 10 megs

Every call centre person has a different story
 
As stated you have to be persistent and then only will it get done. Ask for the manager or something if nothing gets done. Good luck

What are you line SNR and Attenuation Rates

There is nothing you can do but wait. The website might say you are on 10Mb but you might not be connected to that exchange directly, but via a mini exchange that feeds to that exchange. The mini-exchange has not yet been upgraded. that is the story Telkom tell me about La Lucia.

That is one true scenario. Another is that there are multiple DSLAMs within the same exchange itself and that you are not connected to the 10mbps DSLAM.

what road you in? Im in Ridge Road, was wondering why the website said 10mb but havent been upgraded
 
Same thing here .. checker says I can haz 10meg but Telkom drone says no. WTF the site asks for my phone number before checking, how flippen hard can it be to check which DSLAM I'm connected to?
