1000w solar panel? Is it even true

Nothing stopping them from making 1000W solar panels BUT they would probably be 3M by 2M .
800w is 2.2 x 1.7 so not quite :)

Would be closer to 2 x 2.3M for an 1KW panel

 
If you're interested in trends - the industry is moving towards 210mm wafers, so average panel will soon be in the mid 5-600w size, or higher if using Heterojunction technology (HJT) or the slightly less efficient TOPCon, as those are even more efficient at 24% (HJT) or higher, so can reach 700w +-

Not really. You get 1000V fuses that are smaller than your finger. The 1000V breakers would also fit in your normal DB board. I think they are 4P breakers if I remember correctly

Nope, volts doesnt make the big difference, its Amps that needs big breakers
That is why I wire all my solar panels in series, it keeps the amps the same as each panel and thus I can continue using standard thin cable and also not worry about DC loss as you experience heavy DC loss when there is huge amps and incorrect thickness wires

But volts do matter in this instance - since it will determine the arc gap required to effectively break the circuit. If you look at the post above with the breaker - you'll see that they wire them in series in order to meet the required arc gap.

Grade 8 science? Did they teach you those things at grade 8? I have no recollection of what science we learnt at grade 8 but I started encountering current and voltage much later.

I think the point was that it does not make a big difference in terms of the size of the breaker, it's still a normal breaker compared to fridge sized breaker Cosmik was talking about.

As you can see, it does make a difference, the breakers get bigger as the voltage goes up, as you need to put more of them in series. Yes, the fridge size is inaccurate/an exaggeration but the size is indeed dependent on the voltage.
