Got home from work, and found that my line has indeed been upgraded to 1024kbps (placed order yesterday 1pm). Not too shabby :)

Your line speed is approximately 906.7 Kbps or 111.1 kBytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )
Results:

Shouldn't make any difference to latency - nevertheless, some pings below.

hehe, what's to brag about paying such ridiculous prices for broadband :eek: . Ashamed, actually, but it helps being with fellow geeks.

We're upgrading to Business DSL1024 on Monday. My concern is IS aren't sure if the 1024 will be allowed on their backbone :( Sigh. Paying R1539 for uncapped DSL @ 1024 would be AWESOME. I just hope IS come back with a positive on the 1024 working on their uncapped solution!
 
It's a pretty quick response from Telkom. Is there anyone who ordered and hasn't been upgraded yet?

Can't see why IS's solution would not work. The ISP has no way to tell what speed you are connected at (other than how fast you pull data down) and your not connecting to a different ADSL backbone.
 
I'm on iburst right now, which I only had because it was 1mbit. Now that the 1mbit ADSL package is here I want to try that out but I have one problem... it seems slower from the speed tests posted here and from somebody in another thread. So is it possible that the guys posting speed tests are a bit too far from the exchange to get the full 1mbit or what? Is it possible I will have better luck, or is this as good as the telkom 1mbit gets?
 
i think its the best telkom can do, think of 512k, how many 512k subscribers actually get 512?
 
Nice speed but the price,eish! Well we South Africans are glad to finally see a 1mbit connection whilst our counter parts in the rest of the world are moaning because of their "slow" 20mbit! Just shows you! ;)

Bit of topic but we lost the tri-nations trophy due to a very good performance by the all blacks!! damm! :(
