Received this mail from openweb:

Dear Ryan!

Its that time of the month again where I go absolutely bonkers, mad, insane I tell you!

Where has my mind gone?

Anyways, my loss, your gain! Introducing the 512k - 10GB VPN ADSL Month end special for only R299 incl VAT once off! The account will be available from 19 May 2008 and will run until the end of May. Orders can be placed straight away!

This account works as follows:

1. You connect your router / adsl line to a 10GB local only account we provide you.
2. You then create a new VPN connection using Windows Networking / Network Connections to our server.
3. You connect your new VPN connection and voila! You now have unshaped access to the world wide web!

Account specs:

* 10GB's of local and international traffic at 512k speeds, running through our high speed VPN backbone.
* The account will work on all speed lines, but will be throttled to 512k. (Unless you have a 384k, then we don't have to do much throttling ;) )
* The account allows for only 1 concurrent connection
* The account is not renewable. Details will be sent on 19 May, and the account will expire at the end of May 2008.
* The account offers a private, internal IP address in order to protect you from the outside world!
* P2P and torrents allowed.

To order, please email: [email protected]

We don't have many of these, the sooner the order is in, the sooner we can guarantee your account!

Best Wishes

Thats not bad...

Is this some type of trial or something for the future service similar to what I see here?

wow very good

Lets hope this will move from trial to full product at that price point once they are done trial/testing.

I will be sure to sign up if they do.

Not a bad offer, I used to have full uncapped unlimited internet access to our office via a vpn connection using my local only 30 gig. Worked great until someone upstairs decided it was a security hole to tunnel vpn traffic via the company network to outbound locations... :(

No I can only get as far as my pc at work...

I second the notion of this as a full product/service by openweb, as long as the speeds are good and bandwidth not shaped, and of course the duration be a full month, I will sign up.

Now that is something I would def subscribe to every month. 10 gigs in a month for R300. That the perfect price point. Mr Beep, i would take that on right now if it could be taken on before the 19th. And I think id be prepared to pay R350 for that 10 gig plan for the entire month if you had something like that. Best deal ever, would be stoked with that.

Yes, posting PM's is against forum rules. But posting an email does not fall under PM's. ;)

It does actually, it's a "private" conversation. But again, in "context" I don't see why it should be an issue in this thread. The content of the email does create any negative effect, it's just sharing some news.

I think getting things in context matters ;)

Indeed context matters - but if an Idiot emails me, and I want to post it, I'll post it. It all depends on if its personal or not.

Email from a person/not-company: Private
Email from Co etc etc: Post it!

As always there are exceptions ;)

It only covers private conversations held using the private messaging system of the forum.

With all honesty. You people are missing the point. Who cares if its an email or PM...the content is important and newsworthy! So why the hell are all our grandmasters nit picking here. Ego free posts please. Its a pity that a relative newbie like me has to even bring this up. Want to discuss form rules?? I think there is a special subsection for that. Mods can back me on that :) hehe

10gig for R299 in South Africa is BIG NEWS.

God Bless you all...this forum started because of the adsl woes in SA and here we are stuck on a petty issue of posting great information that most people wouldnt have got to see elsewhere.

I feel my bluntness is valid here. I guess even grandmasters are allowed to let their egos slip every now and again...keeps them entertained lol

I bought this package, and i've tried everything, but the vpn just doesn't work. I only get local, no international traffic. Openweb support hasn't helped either. It's a decent deal if you can get it to work, i suppose.
