10Mbps: the global broadband standard

10Mbps sounds about right but what is the point when the majority of the population can't afford, yet alone get access to this service.
 
I guess it's done by geolocation

For me,

5. Vodacom - 4.43
8.Cell C - 3.35
11. MTN - 2.67
 
MWEB probably have more clients than the rest and most will be on 384K so that's why those numbers are low...
 
3rd World internet in the 21st century is old news ....... it will always be behind the rest of the world.
 
That's sad news :(

Seems the East in general is far more advanced than the Western world when it comes to broadband.

My guess, suburban area (meaning decent HSPA coverage) combined with most mobile broadband. I am pretty sure our mobile networks are equivalent and better than most western countries, but our fixed line is way out of date. But that is a guess...

In South Africa to try and get around 40.91Mbps you need the following

4 X 10Mbps Telkom DSL Line's plus line rental = R2211.88
4 X 10Mbps Mweb Uncapped = R7996.00

Total cost = R10207.88

Totally ridiculous go figures

And in most places in SA you can't even get a 10mbps line even if you wanted to try this :(
Also, you would probably want to use uncapped unshaped prices to give a fair comparison to Estonia's 40mbps:

4 * 10Mbps Telkom DSL Line's plus line rental = R2211.88
4 * R4999 = R19996

Total cost = R22207.88

Off topic: what goes on in Estonia, besides smoking weed? :D
