Would it be unethical to post an ad on Gumtree advertising 123net? I'm trying to spread the word, but at the moment don't have much time to do so. I thought an ad would be ideal since it's quick and easy.
I don't really have much contact with my Facebook friends so that wouldn't really work unfortunately.Wouldn't sharing the page on Facebook be easier than filling out an ad form? I'm also not sure what Gumtree's stance on affiliate advertising is, for free at least.
Thanks for the advice. Hopefully in about two weeks I'll start walking around in my area. It's the only way that I see will really help.Already did this but it doesn't have much effect besides reaching 30 people that aren't in your area. Don't waste your time with ads unless it's in your local newspaper.
Thanks I quite like that idea. I just have to get in contact with the councillorI have tried Google ads and Facebook ads for the Lynnwood Fibre Initiative. Google ads cost about R16-R18 per click, because you have to compete with other Internet companies such as Vodacom and MTN on broadband related keywords. It is not worth the cost. On Facebook I spend about $5 per day that brings in 1 or 2 survey responses in my area of 10 000 people, this is for about 20-30 clicks on the add. Facebook is better but still not that effective.
So far what has brought in the most responses was an email sent out by the ward councillor of the area, and then subsequent emails by some gated communities. It helps is you show them that there is a positive response already, and that people in the area support the idea. It takes time and effort but utilising the existing communication networks is the cheapest and it is very effective.
I will be sending out flyers hopefully this week. I'm hoping that it is more cost effective per person than online ads. At least it is directly targeted to the audience.
Good idea too. We don't really have many of those, but I think there is oneTry working through your local neighbourhood watch, they have pretty good communication channels.
