12th May is Wireless Extender demolition day

Our flat came with an extender. It constantly dropped connection in Extender mode, luckily it has an ethernet port and AP mode and I had a long enough cable to reach it and it seems to work much better.

Forgive my ignorance, but what about wireless extenders makes them so crap (they seem to universally suck), and how do they differ fundamentally from a mesh system (apart from multiple mesh units being able to send signal between them)?

It just a cr@pp cheap and nasty bandaid. Extenders make wifi congestion worse by setting up two wireless networks in close proximity, they can't coordinate handover as devices move between APs, they negatively affect latency and throughput

Wireless extenders are often mis-confugured as well as causing interference on existing spectrum. They reduce overall speed on the wifi resources available.
Mesh uses multiple bands and has a protocol that directs packets to the most appropriate node making it more stable. Most mesh systems are based on babel.

Wireless extenders are the spawn of Satan.

On 12th May moer your wireless extender using a hammer (the large the better). Post pics.

There is no giveaway prize. Just the satisfaction of feeling better!
Is this something similar to Steve Hofmeyer telling us to destroy our DSTV decoders and dishes a few years ago? I happen to like my extender...

Interesting to stumble across this, I am about to purchase another one for my dad's property.
Haven't had any issues with the first? Also a Tenda.

Ive got three extenders in my house, mwhahahaha. Theyre actually used, so no, not going to break them.

I can relate to this thread so well...

We have this horror called airlive  in the workplace.

Piece of **** has to be restarted daily otherwise it just hangs. Whether it's powered by POE or wall. Multiple configurations tested.

Gives me nightmares.

I'll provide my hammer services for free. Just message me.
