I was told about a book (sadly I did not get the author or title - silly me) that postulates the theory that, all over the world, once a country has obtained 'liberation', the new government never lasts longer than a maximum of 15 years before it is being overthrown (not necessarily violently, though).

I suppose if you look at Africa this seems pretty obvious, but I wish I could lay my hands on the book and read the author's full research and argument.

It also explains why things seem to be going downhill here and why the 'other camp' in the ANC is getting the upper hand.

Anyone know of this book?

Fidel lasted 49 years.
Bob's going for 30.
Maybe the book is wrong?

15 years ? Well, that's next year.
We can only hope. :eek::o

I hope the ANC will be overthrown BUT.........

There is a fatal flaw in that theory, the people who overthrow the government are educated...

No, obviously the ANC will last beyond 15 years, but the other camp in the ANC is getting its turn now.

Pre 1994 we knew the ANC would win.

The ANC then was given 20 years wherafter they would lose the election.

In order to win the election after that they will have to go for a co-allision.

Not that long to wait.

2009 Elections - DA gets 30%, ANC 50%
2014 Elections - Rise of the educated black majority will have DA 50%, ANC 35%

Just my ideas/prediction.....

Interesting theory, are there parties out there with enough oomph to liberate South Africa? How close does everyone think we are to rebel militia who aren't in agreement with the current government. I think it's a bit of a pipedream really.

Who exactly gave them 20 years out of interest ?

If i tell you i have to kill you.

Seriously though:

Cracks have already appeared in the ANC, COSATU,COMMUNIST PARTY alliance.

There is tremendous strife inside the ANC for control.

Zuma will be the next pres.

The Zulu factor is an unknown.

The country is going down the drain.

More Afrikaners will vote. The apathy is gone.

People are upset, thet do not want their lives affected by Government non-delivery.

More people will vote against the ANC government.

This means that interesting things will happen in this election.

Unfortunately not interesting enough to remove the ANC.

They will win but with a small majority.

The crunch will come with the election after the next one.

What about the US? Or France? How long before liberated South American countries collapse?

DA won't get 30% in 2009.

What kills me (hopefully not literally) is the fact that so many voters get promised the sun and the moon, after which they vote for party X, they get nothing except of course poorer and they bloody vote for that same party again!!! Talk about stupid...

The U.S. is in serious ****.

Read an article that appeared in the Washington post yesterday.

The U.S. in in recession.

Last quarter 2007 they had a growth rate of 0.06 %.

First quarter this year is even worse.

It will have global impact.

You can see this in the losses the dollar suffered in recent weeks.

Against the dollar the rand is reasonably stable.

This is not the case against other currencies as both the rand and dollar lost tremendous ground.
