You never pull over if you're on a motorcycle. By the time they manage to get anything going you can be long gone.

I would love to c a Speedcop jumping infront of a bike doing 250+ km/h
I have been waved down many times but never even slowed down. No plate no problem :)
Good to know that you're nothing more than a criminal.

Bragging about speeding simply puts you on the same level as rapists and murderers.

My 2c.

/me looks at the respect flying out the window.

It also amazes me the number of irresponsible criminals that brag about speeding who will complain about taxis.

Simple solution to the "no plate problem".

Get stopped with no plates:

1) Get to spend an entire weekend in the traffic department, with a volunteer, going through ALL the photos of vehicles with no plates, and have each compared to your vehicle. Should take two days at least.
2) Get to pay 10* the fine for each "match"
3) Get to spend a year of weekends working with the dead bodies in the morgue from vehicle accidents.

Justice.

Odd that it is acceptable for someone to drive a 20 year old, but roadworthy, car at the same speed as someone driving a new car with all the latest safety and handling features. Shouldn't there be a speed limit for every possible vehicle-driver combination?

Anyway this is about speeding on a motorcycle and only an idiot would compare that to speeding in a cage.

How many people are killed by speeding motorcyclists? Many motorcyclists get killed by morons (aka motorists).

Lol, and here I was thinking there was no one from the bikers-are-never-at-fault fraternity here. True, motorists should pay more attention and look out for bikers but in the same light they shouldn't be lane-splitting at 160km/h.

Now that will work. NOT.

So, I am then an idiot. 'kay.

Hardly the point. The point is that they are breaking the law.
Besides, only an idiot (to use your term), cannot see that someone suddenly appearing alongside you is a dangerous situation.
And, for the record, my tax money is spent scrapping the remains of morons off the highway.

bikers have to have good reaction times to pass their driving licences. this together with driving around cars who do not use their indicators and trying to run you off the road every day, does enable them to drive at faster speeds, safely.

I have been driving to work (40km) on my bike for a couple of years now. I now have kind-of a sixth sense and without really looking at a car, I can tell when they are thinking of changing lanes.

I do agree though that bikes, and cars for that matter, should not speed in built up areas.

I think the reason people have a complete disregard for the speed limits on our roads is because they are set far too low on highways. Take for instance the M5 in cape town. There are no pedestrians close and you can see for quite a distance ahead, but the speed limit is 100km/h.

Same with the N1, 120km/h... with a modern car/bike, 120 is not even halfway on the speedometer. Both my bike and car is just over 10 years old, and they both cruise nicely at 140km/h. In fact, the bike is not comfortable at speeds below 140km/h.

And yet, just about every regular biker I know has horror stories of all the pins and metal plates they have from biking accidents...

And yet, that soft squishy thing called "your body" has not changed much in 50 000 years - it still breaks just fine at speeds below 60.

True, because they get pissed and then try to show off their latest trick. Most people I know who have had bike accidents, were pissed at the time.

I have had two accidents, of which one was serious. I was sober; I never get on my bike if I have had more than one drink.
