171 Bikers caught speeding

Most bikers i have known, are stand up people, the difference is that most of the public dont always view them in that light, therefore, they often need to be a little rough.
Its actually stand up citizens, that give bikers a bad name. Because instead of leaving well enough alone, they are the ones who have the issues, not the bikers.
P.S. What did the driver do to entice the biker to that?
Of course. The driver had to have done something, eh? I don't know, I never noticed any swerving or anything, so I can only assume it was from some earlier incident.

Quite interesting how this thread started with the notion that bikers have no regard for the law, now it seems like they enjoy antagonising hostile situations :P

It's not about enjoying it. Box pilots, with their heaps of metal and plastic, believe themselves to be beyond harm. Some of them resent bikes and drive in such a way as to be an inconvenience at best and a lethal danger at worst, from the point of a motorcyclist. Occasionally such people need to be reminded that there are consequences to their actions.

I have run a delivery driver on a motorcycle off the road before ....... you might be next.

It's bad enough dealing with the morons who can't be bothered to make basic observations or to signal, but people deliberately swerving at you is another story. You deserve to be in jail for attempted murder. Honestly, this is the kind of person who claims bikes are bad?

Some day you may try it again with the wrong bike, and you'll either be shot or arrested. In case you're shrugging it off, I'll point out that even a piddly 9mm round can penetrate both sides of any standard car - including your don't-get-dirt-on-me 4x4s - on the road. Cars are concealment, not cover.

Its not relevant - the thread starter was bragging about speeding on his bike and how the cops are wrong.

It is relevant to the seeming argument that box pilots are innocent while bikers are screaming hooligans.

Like these people?

In the day, the chrome chain detered drivers of cars from pulling "sillies" -- 1 chain - 1 windscreen, or as someone else i knew, used to keep a few decent sized ballbearings in his jacket pocket.

. Here's a question to all the motorcyclists: how many of you have had accidents (and how many) on a bike? And motorists: same question

In 5 years of driving a car, none.

Actually if you have ever ridden a bike for any length of time, you will realise that many drivers of vehicles with 4 wheels or more, are , and can be rather aggressive, and especially after hours on weekends, returning home from clubbing or a party.
The drivers know they have the protection of metal all around them as opposed to the bike, so having a means to deter aggression, or to counter acts of aggression, is self preservation.
Why do bikers travel in packs normally?, safety on the road. A couple of youngsters joy riding wouldnt hesitate to mess around with 1 lone biker, if they thought they could get away with it, however they would think twice if there are 10 bikers, so the insurance is for those occasions when one is alone.
Live the experience alone on a bike, and then come talk again, and see how you feel, (if you survive the incident that is)

I've actually had far fewer problems with bikers than I've had with cars, taxis etc. so I see your point, just think its hard to justify smashing people's windscreens etc.

Say that again after you experience the road manners of a couple of standup guys like MyDraadloos. We don't go around smashing the cars of anyone who annoys us. There are guys who need it, though.

More proof that bikers are no threat to Car drivers. But Car drivers are a threat to Bikers. If a Biker make a mistake he dies. If a car driver makes a mistake the biker dies. So pls let me do my speed. You don't need medical aid just make sure you have insurance on your car ;)

You can speed all you want. That doesn't make it right though.

One last thing - I have seen the aftermath of a high speed motorcycle crash into a taxi. Believe me, the biker came off lucky because he died instantly. The other people that died in that incident died very painfully.

Surely he meant he's on a bike and ran a delivery truck off?

If I ever saw a motorist doing something like that I would follow them and deal with them. Done it before, happy to do it again.

used to keep a few decent sized ballbearings in his jacket pocket
I used paintballs. Morons who insisted on tailgating got a couple splattered on their windscreen. Ballbearings were a last resort for anyone who insisted on continuing to play silly buggers.

Serious? Attempted suicide can be charged against u?
Suicide is or was technically a crime in many countries, but they would not be likely to lay charges if you survived. They'd never make it stick anyway.

This some strange ass law
Any law against harming yourself is pretty much completely stupid.

a) Ride with their bright lights on, which is very distracting to traffic both oncoming and same direction. I don't buy that "it makes you aware" crap - it's distracting and more likely to cause accidents by blinding drivers.
Dipped beam is sufficient. Park lights are useless. Also applies to idiots in cars who think putting their park lights on in inclement weather is adequate.

On many modern bikes you can't turn the headlight off, but there is generally need to use the high beam.

b) Ride at the speed limit while weaving in traffic. I swear if somebody knocks my mirror through no fault of my own, I'll get off, shoot the back tyre and you can crash for all I care. Then I'll lay a charge against you for vandalism.
I agree. I've always been careful to avoid other people's mirrors. On the other hand those idiots who deliberately try to close the space between the cars are telling me they have a mirror they don't need, so I'll oblige and take it with me. Strangely it was almost always people in luxury cars, most often BMWs, that tried to block my path.

The speed and the resistance of the mirror is the difference. When traveling past and I hold out my Gloved hand and smack the mirror very little to none resistance from the mirror. And the speed helps with the inpact.
I've put my bare fist through a mirror while riding a bicycle. It's really no big deal to do it with a gloved hand on a motorcycle.

LMAO.

a few got arrested. Guess that's what you get for pulling over. I have never and will never stop for a trafic cop while on my Bike. Pls mr Speedcop come try and catch me :p

News24

Solution for bikers who want ot speed (use at own risk): construct a remotely controlled electrical motor and attach a numberplate plate to it at the back of the motorcycle. At a flick of a switch on the thumb the electric motor rotates 90 degrees or even 180 degrees and the numberplate is verted upwards, like in 007 and hopefully not readable from cameras. And when stopped, flick it back into position. Bending the rules!

Hey I read somewhere cooking spray or hair spray works against speed trap cameras...not really keen on trying though :p

Anyone knows if it works?

I aint a speeder but seriously 60km/h on a three lane road(barry hertzog before empires near jhb centre) is waaaaay too slow....
And I got caught there like 3 time all with R200 or R400 fines...
They should at leat make it 80km/h... :(
