192k to 384k? ~~~August 1st changes~~~

Fixed my 192k to 384k upgrade!

Getting a bit irate with not being upgraded yet, I started investigating the matter.

Turns out my modem was syncing at 384k, even though I was getting 192k throughputs.

Opened a case with Telkom yesterday morning, who phoned me back within 24 hours (well, within 2 minutes of 24 hours!). Spoke to a tech who "reset my port in case the settings didn't go on the first time".

My throughput was still around 17-18KB/s on the speed test page, but after resetting the modem again on my side, throughput went up to around 36KB/s.

So, if your modem is syncing at 384k and you're getting less than 20KB/s throughput, chances are Telkom believe they've already upgraded you - log a call with them on 0800 375 375.

I phoned Telkom today and asked about my 384k upgrade which is already a month overdue :p After getting bounced back and forth i got home and my line is now synch @ 384/128 but still getting 192k speeds. Im not in the mood to wait 40min again on a phone so il see if i get a better throughput within the next 24hrs. If you dont phone... you dont get...

I was upgraded a few weeks ago. never even phoned them.

Makes a nice difference downloading iso's.

Wow i cant belive u guys are still waiting a month later :/ Thats really slack service on telkom

Thanks atom guy, I did the same today. Telkom had to reset my port twice before the new speed kicked in.
