Upgraded to 384 on Monday 07/08/06. Saw techie busy at the box, and went to check line speed. To my astonishment I was upgraded, who would have thought it possible...

I have been upgraded as well. Been doing several spot tests since Monday the 7th and all gave me 340+ kbps. Line sync's at 384kbps.

quite convenient. :)

I had 192 installed for my mother at the binning of the year. She lives in Bloemfontein which is renowned for being well behind time. Her service was automatically upgraded last week to 384. Well done telkom!!

192>384

was upgraded today, cable guys came and took out the old cable then put in new ones. Apparently the old ones could only handle 192k. Did speed tests and im gettin much higher reasults. Sorry for the chaps who were paying for 512k, meanwhile the cables in our area could only handle 192k.Bet you Telkom would never have told you that when ordering your line.

Can someone explain what this speed test result means

I ordered 192K before the offcial august upgrade; I now am connected here is the speed test result. Am I really now getting upto 384K synch?

Results:

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:
Download time: 12.346 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 330.5 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 40.5 (kiloBytes/second)

Thanks

Are there still people who haven't been upgraded? I thought everyone got the speed upgrade by now! Wow Telkom are really really slow, but we all now that by now.

Try phoning them and demanding your free upgrade.

Still waiting...

Still waiting for my upgrade here in Gordon's Bay... the sad thing is that I was on 512k several months back and downgraded to 192k for cost reasons. So there are no excuses about line quality...

It took them just over 2 months to months to move my ADSL line to my new place when I bought it (no, I downgraded to 192k months after moving to the new place), so I'm not all that surprised. Still, when I hear my local ISP (as far back as two weeks ago) being surprised that 80%+ of their clients has already been upgraded, I grit my teeth at being one of the last people upgraded... :(
