Hello,

Well, now I am seriously considering ADSL because even 56k is costing a ****load. I just need to decide on an ISP. I don't game, all I do is download and browse. From what I understand, an ISP which is on the IS backbone would be best, right? Anything that can allow me to download and browse for the longest duration.

Secondly, would you be able to use ADSL in conjunction with a pre-paid line? I dont know why my mom has this bust she does...

Thirdly, is Discovery ISP for 56k still R39? Every email on their website is screwed. Is @Lantic reliable? The reason why I need 56k is to use on weekends when I go to my dad. From what I know some ISPs allow you to dial-up as well on their DSL logins, but can you do this whilst still logged in simultaneously somewhere else, and does this add to your cap?

Hope you guys understand my queries!

Thanks

Thanks. Was one of my choices. It seems there's a lot of support behind them and Mr Beep. Just need to decide between 3GB and 2/3GB with OpenBrowse.

One more question, say I download locally first, will this add to my 3GB cap? I'm assuming yes.

Thank you once again

I suggest going for openbrowse, as its cool to be able to surf after ur cap is gone.

good luck with your choice!

That is a good question....Haven't really heard such a query before...

As for the isp, definitely go with openweb. Yes, local does contribute towards your initial 3 gig cap, but as was said before, if you get openbrowse you can surf internationally after the cap.

With a nice fat internet cut off (hardcap) when the 3GB's are finished.

Haha exactly why i'm not going for it

Its great if you just want to browse but all the local content that is available makes the 30gig+ local very useful :)

Only problem I have with IS is that international is slow as hell during normal business hours, just something to keep in mind ;)

Even local slows down appreciably during business hours which is not great if that is what you want to use it for...

No ... you would need to convert your prepaid telephone line into a normal telphone line which you can do for free at any of their branches.

They will do a credit check on you and they might insist on a deposit.
