1GB Data Promotion

U dont even need the software. All u need is the drivers.

The programe is nice for sending and receiving SMS's and making calls.
If you only using it for internet the driver will work 100%. Maybe google could help ;)

AFAIK you don't even need the drivers.

In the MTN F@stlink software click on Settings
Click Connection
Click New. Name it Willekalaharibosveldoliegrokenoster (or just VC if you want)
Under Authentication put the number as *99#
Change the APN to "internet"
Leave everything else blank.

Insert your VC sim card and off you go.

JJF.

I know, what I was trying to say is that if you have the card only and no software you can just download the drivers ;)

Sweet thanks for the advice!

I will try this weekend and report back. It makes sense, since VC is cheaper at the lower end.

The last 2 nights MTN has been *** slow in the Centruion area, wouldnt mind having the option to swap networks too.

:D

Doubt your international speed is going to increase ... There was a thread somewhere about the SAT3 Cable being over congested.

Prepaid DB was started by MTN long ago and VC is only starting now.

If MTNNS buys for instance 100mb of SAT3 connectivity though won't they be guaranteed that 100mb and other congestion won't affect them?

There are many routes Internationally with SAT3 just being one of them and the most desired from a latency point of view to Europe and the USA. Telkom currently routes return International SAIX ADSL traffic via SAFE.

International speed are slow on MTN because MTN network is not buying enough bandwidth from MTNNS understandable possibly due to the drop in data rates - it takes time to install additional links.

The fact that traffic is routed on the same physical transmission medium (SAT3) does not imply they share the same link. Each ISP purchases an amount of bandwidth from Telkom and upstream ISP. The speed the subscriber sees is dependent on the amount of users and bandwidth purchased. All what MTN needs to do is upgrade their links to MTNNS and if they cannot provide use another ISP.

Having just read that post Data Dude just reffered us to,i couldnt help but smile about the fact the 2gb promo will continue.
I must admit i am very happy about that but
do they actually have a choice?
