Just had Vox's 1Gbps service installed in CPT ... running on Frogfoot.

Some initial speedtests

International - US

International - UK ( Vox's server )

Important to note that international does fluctuate quite significantly depending on the server / location / network constraints ... worst speeds I've seen 30Mbps upto 200Mbps+

fast.com ( netflix ) reports 190Mbps

Local - Vox

Local - Telkom

Local - Durban

( Openserve speed test reports same download but 600Mbps upload )

Local - JHB

( Openserve speed test reports similar download but 900Mbps upload )

Whilst everyone generally focuses on the download speeds - the upload speeds are also remarkable. A 1 gig file placed in DropBox uploads in under a minute ...

I tested this out as I was the first install for Frogfoot in Constantia. It's absolutely insane. Where are you based?

Your international speedtests are quite good (considering how limited our links are).

Bliksem that's nice, just for interest sake why 1 Gbps, specific use case or just because you can?

Combination of the 2.

Previously had Telkom 100Mbps fibre - and seldom got full speed ... it was obviously an enormous leap forward compared to 4mb adsl ... but disappointing to be paying Telkom's rates and not getting full benefit of the technology's capability.

Frogfoot / Vox allow for fairly easy migration between their packages - so starting at the top and will work from there.

Is twitch streaming possible with those kind of speeds? 1080p?

Im not talking about you watching twitch im talking about you streaming with a 720 or 1080p camera.

Uncompressed?
24-bit @ 1080i @ 60 fps: 24× 1920x1080*60/2=1.49 Gbit/s. 24-bit @ 1080p @ 60 fps: 24× 1920x1080*60=2.99 Gbit/s.
:p

Upload should be fine I would think.
