1st Robovac suggestions

The Xiomi "Pro" version seems to have the mapping.

If the software maps your house and lets you choose which rooms to vacuum / mop, then I would take that one.

They all have mapping, the problem is one is based on cameras on top and therefore just more or less recognises stuff and gets around by bumping into things to know they are there.

The ones with Lidar actually "see" things and builds vertical mapping and therefore don't just smash into them.

so I went with the Bennett Reid due to local support, will report back on performance at a later stage

orange roller brush looks identical to the BR one
That was pretty dumb based on what's on offer. Local support, are you taking it for oil services every 10 000km?

The irony being the S10+ is cheaper than the S10 now..hopefully he didn't actually pay the currently listed price for what should be a R2999 robot vacuum.

The S20+ is also R5999. 3 left

I have an S10.got it last year black friday.

Really is awesome ,wake up to a clean floor every morning.still have to do a proper mop every now and then as I find the tiles build up dirt that the robot can't clean.

Other half's hair really tangles the brush up which effects the cleaning. So do cats toys and poo is the worst.we have a cat that stands in the sand box and suits outside it. The robot then drags this all over the place.

The app is a bit laggy and sometime pops up with network errors so you cannot edit anything but it's manageable.
I am able to edit rooms , vacuum or mop modes for sections or rooms

Lately I have been finding the filter getting wet ,can't seem to figure out what's causing it. But other than the odd dirty sensor and random stuck wheel it's really been robust

Just got a Dreame D10 Plus in preparation for the domestic going home for the holidays. Dog hair will coat the floors like little sand dunes. Not this year.
Not interested in the "mop" feature though, you may as well just Velcro a facecloth onto the bottom.

That's a great deal, but why did I think the S20+ is the one that self-cleans with the tall housing?

While they don't do the job of an actual mop it does do a great deal to lift dust off the floor.

It works well in combination with what the vacuum bit misses.

how long have you had it?

You've just bought a rebranded Xiaomi (which was a rebrand of Dreame in the first place in most cases) but without the Lidar it's going to rely on bump dynamics and no actual intelligence.

Don't know where you fell out with local support...Xiaomi is the only brand locally with any support the rest is just punted rebrands by every other shop.

No idea why I offered advice in the thread if you just went and effectively bought a no name brand piece of kak anyway without any real savings.

If you haven't opened it yet send it back now and get the much better S10+ for similar money - https://www.takealot.com/xiaomi-robot-vacuum-cleaner-s10/PLID93173412
Xiaomi do not have a store in Dbn from what I saw and BR does. Also the BR has a 2 year warranty and Makro extended it to 4 years.

I paid 4k for it, not full price.

Anyway apologies for wasting your time then.

Day to day cleaning is what I would care about; not who has a store.

While it will do the job, the ones with just a camera aren’t a patch on the ones with Lidar.

But I guess in about 5 years you’ll have the opportunity to upgrade as it will be pretty dead by then.

Maybe you are lucky and it dies in warranty and you get a free upgrade.

The X versions seem to have the stand.
This is a pic of the 10 series.
The 20 series seems to follow this.

Very confusing rebrand going from S to X but the X does less from what I’ve seen as it doesn’t self-clean like the S did yet it is newer.

Guess it didn’t work so well.

I bought this a few weeks ago. all I can say WTH did I wait so long. Fortunately my house is 90% smooth tile with only the 2 bedrooms been wood laminate.

this robvac is awesome. takes less than an hour to clean the entire house - that's vac & mop

damn tiles look brand new now. No hair (girlfriend) a gecko will get stuck its so clean

I've also noticed it can spot a piece of dirt - turn around and target the dirt then resume pattern.

the mapping is excellent.

House size?

about 89 square meters - not including the braai room. there's a sliding door between the dining & braai room the robovac can't climb over - yet. I might 3d print a ramp for it to go over.

Does it have the option to add that as a “floor” and then you can just move it there?
