1st Robovac suggestions

We went from a 1C to the S20+. The difference is night and day. The S20+ now now services the main house whilst the 1C now sorts a braai room ( security gate blocks it off from the main house )

I integrated the 1C into HA so that we could trigger it from an IR remote ( an ESP32 is involved ). But I don't / haven't had a need to pull the S20+ in yet. Like you said, there's no official integration yet. But this thread has had some success

Damn that's cool.
I did a bit of tinkering this morning but the old custom 1C repo I found on Github that's supposed to support the 1C via HACS unfortunately doesn't work on the newer HA anymore, not worth spending too much time on tinkering these days.

To be honest it's probably not a major issue... I'm using an old smartphone as a custom control panel upstairs so opening and using the standard Xiami app isn't too inconvenient, and I'm trying not to add too many automations to my place, a mistake I made with my first smart home setup.

Now deciding between the expensive scenario of getting Aqara presence sensors to compliment the other automations, or just getting another vac.

I used this. Works a treat and is very straight forward

So, when he had a little girl, it was no problem having this robot around. But damn with the lil boy, only 9 month old, he can't get enough.

He goes over to the dock and pull on the robot. This x20 the goes into some auto start mode. This is, even with the child lock enabled. Sometimes he play so much with it, it's easier to just pick it up and put it on a table.

The map luckily most times restore eventually, but when the robot goes into this auto start mode by being pulled on, it temporarily wipes the map.

Really annoying this auto start mode whatever it is.

Found an interesting item to print for the X10+/X20+ that makes a kinda re-usable vacuum box.

Anybody know where to get replacement batteries that aren't a rip? Seems pretty kak that you can buy an entire router UPS with much more lithium capacity for half the price. Its not the price but rather the principal the bugs me

This is for an 360 S5 (At the time the cheapest lidar vac on the market)- https://smart.360.com/robot/s5.html

It's not a rip.. you can find these on AliExpress for slightly less, however, shipping kills it completely, often the same or more than the price of the battery..

Grab it from Geewizz, gonna be the cheapest..

I also bought an X20+ after reading this thread.
Thank you, MYBB community - you certainly do have your uses!

(We just call ours "The Robovac").

Well I bought mine after chatting with @mr_norris and asked him which one he had and he told me I should get the X20+. Being lazy means that I don't do double research if my friend who already has done the research tells me what I should get.

Any opinion on this one and its price?

And is there anything you wish you knew before you bought it?

I have it and it's great. It's my first robo vac/mop so I went into it pretty new.
But do you have any specific questions?

For one, we do have a i5 Roomba that works (it was half-price at the time), but it is on the 1st floor and doesn't support a second map. But we have the option of moving it and mapping downstairs as the 1st floor is only 2 rooms, and just use random vacuuming upstairs.

So the question is ... would it be worth spending R9k where there is a workaround (I'm not entirely convinced).

With regards to the mop, the main thing is we have a loose mats/carpets in almost all of the rooms, so the mop might have a hard time. From my understanding the x20+ needs manual mapping in this regard? Anyone have experience/problems/tips in this regard?
