Hi All,

Yet another Telkom Wifi thread. So:

I use my tablet to connect to the Access Point "1Telkom Connect". I am using my 8ta sim in the device, so I set my EAP to "SIM" as has been covered numerous times before. When I try to connect to the hotspot using these settings, my device tries to obtain an IP address, but then stops and gives a status of "Authentication Problem". After telling the device to forget the network and retrying numerous times, now I'm stuck and the call centre keeps repeating all the stuff I have already tried.

Using my second device's MAC address to connect to the "1Telkom Guest" network works perfectly. My problem lies with my primary device. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Is your device using Android?
I may be completely off but could it be a signal problem?
On my S3 I kept getting the "authentication problem" error but when standing right under the wifi router I could connect.
For some reason Android uses "authentication problem" as a general error.

I use the 1Telkom Guest with my secondary device at the same distance and it works fine. But thanks, I will try it next to the router next time and report back.

Have tried connecting right next to the router, no help. The problem seems to be with my device. I used another device with the same Sim card and it works fine. Guess I'll have to wait for a software update.

As always, thanks for the help TM. Are there any manual proxy settings which you could use in conjunction with EAP SIM to try and connect?

Are you sure this problem isn't only affecting your hotspot? I've had that before. Try testing another hotspot?
