Can anyone recommend a local, affordable 1U server? HD space required is minimal but the HW must be able run ClearOS (ie, if it does Cent - no problem).

I'd say Supermicro is the most affordable you will get, you should be able to fetch them locally from Pinnacle.

Oh sweet - excellent. Thanks a lot man...

Pleasure.

SuperMicro is pretty decent, and their price a lot better than comparable Dells ect. They also offer IPMI (Dell call it DRAC). And apart from using let's say desktop hard drives (you can use SAS in them too), they are still server grade hardware, and you will use Xeon CPUs ect instead of normal desktop cpus and so on.

Their 1u servers are very popular, and as an example, Softlayer makes heavily use of Supermicro servers for dedicated servers,s o you still get quality.
