at post #16 i gave the memory specs, when i open the pc i saw ddr 400

ok thanx , now say i use a 8x agp graphics card on a 4x agp slot how can i use the card to its full abilitie and wud i need extra fns for cooling??

Chances are that you won't even notice the drop from 8x to 4x, especially if it's a very old card ;)

And you probably won't need any more fans, but it can't hurt to keep your system cooler :D

wkj , sorry but i dont understand there are no very old 8x agp cards... if i buy an 8x card for a 4x slot t wouldn`t use the card to its full p0tential , can overclocking help?

this is what some guy told me

` It is unliklely that the rest of the machine will be performing its part for the game / software as the 'newer' card will be capable of.`

I had a GeForce Ti4200 that used AGP 8x and it is quite old. And I don't think it wasn't the first AGP 8x card (might've been, who knows?). And no, if the bus can't handle the data being transferred by the normally clocked card, overclocking the card won't help at all. Or are you planning on overclocking the AGP bus itself?

is it even possible to overclock the agp bus???

Ah, so that's not what you were planning on overclocking :D If I recall correctly you can overclock the AGP bus but there's some kind of divider issue, not exactly sure (never overclocked the bus myself :p).

Then my answer remains the same: No, overclocking the card won't help.

Hey, I also owned a Ti4200 many moons ago, was a kicka$$ card then! Also was like top of the range stuff, gud old days ;)

And to Himler: Dude, I really think you should do more research on the net for most of your questions. If this thread goes on it'll probably go to page 50 :p I'm not attacking you man, but the basic stuff you shud research on tons of other sites.
