Edit: I know I know, I made a typo in my title and I don't know how to edit it :crying: life is hard.

I'm reaching out to share my recent frustrating experience with Afrihost's relocation process and to seek advice or assistance if possible.

On June 23rd, I submitted a relocation order to transfer my services to my new location, expecting a smooth transition. However, upon moving into my new place on July 1st, I discovered that the ONT had been removed by the previous tenants, which required me to change my order for a new installation.

Since then, I have been trying to resolve the issue with Afrihost support. I initially requested my order to be changed to an installation relocation order, but it seems that this change was not implemented as promised. Instead, my order was mistakenly changed to a "migrate-in" order, causing further delays and confusion.

Throughout the past three weeks, I have repeatedly reached out to Afrihost support through various channels, seeking updates on my order's progress. Unfortunately, the responses I received were repetitive, poorly written, and failed to address the actual problem. I've been told that they are waiting on Octotel to do address clearance and release the line being locked from a previous ISP but as of today, it has been 20 days since I submitted my relocation order, and I am still without a fibre connection despite continuing to pay for the service.

It has been a frustrating journey and has severely impacted my ability to work. I'm reaching out to the community as a last resort in the hope that someone might have some advice or insights that could help expedite the installation of my fibre line.

If anyone has faced a similar situation or has any suggestions on how to escalate this matter effectively, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

20 days without internet and you're still paying for the monthly service?!!! That's insane... and I'm assuming you've been with them for quite some time... it's a pity they don't seem to care about the customers. Hopefully Afrigirl manages to get you back online so you don't have 30+ days of no internet

Currently sitting in the same boat. Waiting on Vumatel to do an address clearance. 16 days and counting. I doubt vuma takes so long to respond and afrihost will never update you. Instead you have to deal with explaining the situation to every agent. Some dont even understand. Any recommendations for ISP’s that can actually get this resolved?

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic

Do you have your reference handy?

We will continue to engage with Vuma to have the address cleared for a new order. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience caused during this period, and I will update you via PM

Im also struggling. Really regretting moving to Afrihost. Cool ideas could at least manage Vumatel and provide feedback.

It's a joke honestly. I have now spent R600 on mobile data while I wait for this line to be activated. I'm pretty sure I'll be canceling in a month or 2 as soon as I have made plans to cover the gap between isps.

Whatever the cost it will be well worth the saving in future frustrations dealing with the likes of Afrihost.

I once moved into a brand spanking new place with an ONT ready installed. Decided I'll do it like the rest and get Afrihost!

What transpired is documented here somewhere but basically it can be summed up as "I hope they ****ing burn!". Even the best attempts by the Afrihost staff on mybb couldn't get them to get anything working - an endless loop of phone call hell.

So I reverted to common wisdom - found out who installed the fibre, found out if they were an ISP as well, guy helped me over the phone and internet was up and running a couple of minutes later.

TL;DR: always try and skip the ISP-only middleman

This is exactly what I am stuck with now. What shocks me is that Afrihost seem entirely incapable, unwilling or both, of managing this with Vuma. Hell if I could do it I would in a heartbeat. Every time I had an issue with Vuma and cool ideas they managed to get them to react same day, even once coming out same day to swop out an ONT. I have heard so many sincere apologies which are not sincere its actually hilarious.

But I have to give them some kudos, they completely fixed my disconnect problem. You can't get disconnects if you are never connected in the first place.

i was promised a 24-72 hour turnaround time last week Wednesday for a response from vuma. So 8 days later and still nothing. And i still have to chase to understand whats going on. I genuinely can’t believe afrihost used to win awards for being the #1 ISP in the country. Whats left now is a joke funnier than the politicians who run our country
