2004 Golf MK 4

A family member of mine just bought a 2004 Dihatsu Sirion auto with 140K on the clock for R70K! o_O

Needless to say it broke down in Berea after 2 days of ownership. Been fighting so hard with myself not to dance around said family member singing "I told you so, I told you so!"
Do you know what was wrong with it?

Have you considered a Honda or maybe a Mazda?

I almost bought this Honda Ballade for 85000 last month. It might still be available. What do you think?

Maybe Mazda 2/ 3.

Friend has the Golf 4 2.0 and it has clocked over 350 000km anf had a hard life but it still soldiers on. I am aware that in its life the alternator died. GW stocks parts and i dont think you will struggle to look after it.

Couple of my friends have the I20 and last time i checked the one is over 200k km and other 115k km and still going strong.

I know the one with 200k km had its fuel tank replaced and that was it.

OP why not look for a Toyota Auris as they are good reliable cars, i drive a 2011 one and to date its been reliable doing plenty of kilos.

Looks decent. If it’s still available take a mechanic with check, access if any major issues can be seen or heard.
Hondas are quite decent.

The Mazda 2 or 3 are good.
The auris has a bulletproof engine and that reliability of Toyota.

In my long winded search for a car i came across a 2009 Ford Focus 1.6 si with 135000 FSH wat agents. Car is in mint condition and is costing 95000. Any thoughts on this?

Engines last long, but they quite thirsty for a 1.6L.

From a glance at the specs it looks like it uses the 1.6 Duratec engines, it's one of the most reliable engines Ford has ever made.

I vote for it.
