2007/2008 Premiership Footy Thread

Have to say it's been a while since the title was so open..

Looking back at Pool's season, that patch of draws cost us majorly, but still, last season we were 21 points off the title. Also a month back we were 19 points off (IIRC) and now it's only 8..

Yeah. Unfortunately IMO Rafa will never be cured of his defensive mentality which will mean we'll continue to drop points because of draws. In Europe draws a fine but the Prem as Arsenal are finding out are title killers. :o

Could you imagine if we had a quality RW up front with Babel and Torres :cool:
 
look alan liverpool are playing so awesome prem league football with torres back now

liverpool have not really done well because if torres is not in the team they have no sting something they should work on

but yea liverpool are looking great and if they can keep this form i see no reason why they cannot finish 3rd and win the champions league

i got a feeling united cannot win the champs league, for some reason united dont like champs league always choke apart from 99 :)

I know,iv shed many tears over my beloved toon,i hate king kev,if we didier dechampes or still had sam we'd be in the mid table atleast.

they need 2 get rid of everyone except martins,n'zogbia,given,taylor,geremi and maybe milner.


Im no arsenal fan but they do a hell of alot better against stronger opposition than against weaker teams,they are too are very arrogant in the that respect 'we beat milan so our upcoming league fixtures will be a piece of french toast' thats the problem with young teams,they get big heads very easily.

Liverpool have the potential to catch them but they wont,they will bugger up as soon as benetiz starts with his tinkering.

I agree.

I honestly dont think an english team will win it,chelski could get to the final.Arsenal are the only team i believe are capable of winning it but they also like to bottle at the strangest times.Maybe liverpool will get lucky as they have for the last few years.

I don't remember him saying he was a fan of newcastle, just that they would do well. I thought they would as well. Or at least not as badly as they have done :eek:

ummm no i was a big sam supporter for what he had done at bolton and i thought newcastle would be a much better club with better players

so better players plus big sam i was hoping they could win the title and possibly break the big 4 up

so i was supporting them and saying newcastle FTW, not once did i ever mention that infact support them as a football club


i know you cannot understand how someone who supports a certain team can also want another team to do well but thats how i am

i think it does get kinda boring watching arsenal and united winning the league, then chelsea came along and dominated along with united

now this season you have a 3 possibly 4 way tie for the league when in the last 10 years have u had 3 possible winners?


next season you will totenham FTW and not because i support them , because i want them to do well and challenge for the title :)

i would love to see a tot or westham villa etc chasing the title down, does this mean i support those 4 teams?

is it wrong to want see other teams do well? should i just support united and not think about the other 19 teams in the league? or want them to do well?

dont worry brad i know your bitter because arsenal will finish 3rd or 4th i would also be bitter watching my team throw away their season because they are big headed and inexperienced :)

Is there anyone here other than me that doesnt support arsenal,chelski,liverfool or united?!Seems all footy fans are strictly big 4 :(

I had loads of faith in big sam although some of his buys were questionable,problem is now KK is stuck with sam's signings.makes me angry!!atleast martins had a decent game last night.
 
therat same bought players to fit into his plan for the future

they gave him just 8 months to turn around a club

you need atleast a season maybe 2 to build up your club

do you think arsene wenger or alex wenger walked into their clubs and did well in their first seasons

alex ferguson took alot of years to build up united

the difference is they gave him more than 8 months to get the team together

big sam was never accepted from the minute he took the job and 8 months later they fired him

also just to show you how good a manager he was look at bolton now

from finishing in the top 8 almost every season and even getting into europe they are now going to relegated if they dont start winning

nothing changed apart from the manager

I really liked big sam and thought he would do great things for us (a top 8 finish) but i agree he didnt have time to get things running well,the problem is nufc is pretty much run by the fans so what ever they say they get..stupid stupid stupid idea getting rid of scottie p to the mercenaries.

o yea screw the family, easter comes around once a year

not often you get 2 massive matches on the same day

lets alone twice in a one season :)

Everton are doing great considering the money available to them.

I support Leeds United but we don't really discuss them in the premier league threads anymore lol
