You know, i dont see why u guys should even take what alan says seriously. We all know that Ronaldo is the best player in the world at the moment, the commentators mentioned it on Sunday, other world class players have also acknowledged what Ronaldo has done.

Simply put, there is no other player capable of playing the style of soccer he plays. The thing most people don't see in the big games, and the reason why it seems as though Ronaldo doesnt perform in the big games, is the amount of defenders he draws to him.

How many times have united been lethal when Ronaldo has the ball and makes a defence splitting pass? Why? because most of the defence is on Ronaldo which leaves the rest of the field pretty much open....

This in my opinion is one of the characteristics that define a great player. Someone who draws out the defence in order to create more space for his team mates :)

yeah...Ronaldo played a big part in the free kick. I bet all the Arsenal players thought he was going to take it and bang...Hargreaves hits it. Ronaldo scares the ***** out of the players and sometimes that's all you need.

Out of interest, can you name me someone who is a great player in your opinion then?

Just the other day I gave you a whole list

My definition of great a player is one who delivers against the best. Yours is someone who only delivers against the also rans and 'creates space' by being marked out of the game against the best

alan even ppl who dont like united will tell you your fulla kuk man

you believe what you want to

there is no need to defend ronaldo, 99% of ppl will say he is a legend already

1% of ppl will say he is not great but they know in the back of their minds not a single player can match his talent at the moment

*sigh*

So sad to see that standards have sunk so low. Must be the hairdo

You would never have heard of Ronaldino, Zidane, Van Nistelrooy, Henry, Gerrard, ***a... even Fabregas, Lampard, Drogba, Messi always disappearing in big games because they were 'marked out of them' every time ROFL :D

why do you include fabregas in those players?

o alan did they ever 38 goals in one season? possibly ever hit the 45 mark?

i highly doubt it

but i see your point about ronaldo not being great

i mean 38 goals with around 7 possible games of the season to go :)

who would want this kid in their team, liverpool would never want such untalented young man like him hey :)

Did you not notice he ran the show yesterday. He was fantastic. Only 20 tough season, incredible tough game a few days ago and yet against Hardgrieves, Carrick and Scholes with only the plonker Gilberto with him he comes out and delivers in a massive game for his team. Where was Ronaldo? ***** footing towards the corner flag going nowhere to fall over

I'd pick him over Ronaldo any day because when the big games come he'll deliver.

EDIT: How many penalties has Ronaldo taken this year? If it's 4 then he's only scored 3 more goals than Torres who's in his first season and has had the likes of Dirk Kuyt and Veronin as strike partners. Hmmm

Actually isn't he deployed as a forward in a front 3 formation. Hardly stuck out wide. I wonder how many free kick he's scored since Torres doesn't take any for Liverpool. That'll put them on a par I'd guess in open play goals

hmmm anyone think wigan will hold chelsea tnite?

Actually Ronaldo doesn't........oh wait

:D

No Wigan are like a poor man's Chelsea. They both are bland, physical and well suited to crap pitches. The only difference is a 100 million odd in talent ;)

LOL dude. You cannot seriously believe that!

A list of premier league TEAMS that Ronaldo has scored more goals than:

Middlesboro
West Ham
Sunderland
Wigan
Reading
Bolton
Fulham
Derby

Sure, they are not the greatest teams, but they are still whole teams.

Ronaldo is world class. You wish he played for your team. Get over it :)

Rafael Benitez has held trans-Atlantic discussions with Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett over his future at Anfield.

The Liverpool boss left Anfield after his side's 3-1 win over Blackburn to return to his Cheshire home for an exchange of e-mails with the American duo, after it was revealed that chief executive Rick Parry was party to meetings they had late last year with Jurgen Klinsmann.

The former Germany manager was being lined up as a possible replacement for Benitez at the time that his relationship with the owners was at an all-time low.

But Benitez claims he only discovered yesterday from media reports that Parry had attended meetings in the US with Klinsmann and his advisors `on instruction' from the club's owners.

The Spaniard was clearly furious after the Blackburn victory having discovered who was involved in what he believed were meetings behind his back.

But he now believes those meetings took place in the full knowledge of Parry, who, he claims, did not inform him of his involvement.

Benitez insisted that he would be discussing the situation with his agent, aware that Valencia, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in his services.

The answers he receives from the owners will dictate his position at the end of the season, but he will not walk away ahead of the Champions League semi-finals with Chelsea and is intent on winning the trophy for the second time for the Reds.

But the manager's whole future at the club is now in doubt as further revelations over exactly who was party to the meetings with the German and his advisors.

Benitez, who was delighted with a performance that saw Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin score the goals to beat Rovers, said: 'I am surprised at things I have read, I need some clarification about a meeting that took place involving a lot of people that I did now know about.

'I need to ask questions and I want some answers. I want to clarify things. I am really calm, but I want answers.'

Roque Santa Cruz replied in injury-time for Rovers, but Liverpool further cemented their grip on fourth spot to take a five-point lead over Everton and a positive goal difference of 12 that, in effect, is worth another point with just four games left.

But Benitez had his pleasure at the result soured by yet more boardroom problems.

He added: 'What concerned me was the people who were in the meeting, that was a surprise.

'We [the coaching staff and the players] are professionals and we know we must be focused on football, and we will try to do this.

'It is not affecting the players. They are winning and they know we must finish in the top four and progress in the Champions League. We must stay focused on football.'

IMO all four have to go. Everybody knows Parry is not up to the task of running the club, Rafa cannot win the Prem with his defensive tactics and Kuyt fetish and Gillett and Hicks broke their promise over putting debt on the club.

Problem is although Rafa can't win the Prem he still is rather decent in the CL and finishs in the top 4. So it is very possible a replacement might end up worse. Still you don't make progress without taking chances.

Thats a bs fallacy perpetuated by united supports - HE HAS BEEN PLAYING AS A BLOODY STRIKER IN SKY SPORTS ADMIT THIS!

Watch one United game and if you know anything at all about football you will know that this is simply not the case.

Dude he has been playing alot of those games as a striker, not a freaking midfield player - so the claim he is the highest scoring midfielder is BS - its like putting drogba as defender after him playing striker all season then us claiming we have the highest scoring center back or some such - its a crock of crap.
