naaa nivek i dont think liverpool would have been in trouble man

remember when arsenal almost didn't make it and it took spurs players getting food poisoning for it to happen

even when liverpool finish 5th they still get into the champs league :)

That is also true :(

WTF has it got to do with the EU parliament?!

'The parliament calls on the member states and sports associations not to introduce new rules that create direct discrimination based on nationality, such as FIFA's 6+5,' the resolution said.

Wenger must be relieved, lol.

A terrible decision if you ask me.

nah
financially they wouldve been in shiat
probably would have had to sell gerrard and torres

The teams would be forced to play some ENGLISH players for once and not just buy their way to success. Which are both great things. :)

Dude, English players are dire compared to the rest of Europe...leave football the way it is :)

As a south african i dont care how many english players are in the top 4 teams..

lampard joe cole gerrard terry carrick rooney ferdinand walcott may disagree alan

i cannot think of better players in midfield than lamp gerrard carrick
rooney we all know is a legend
terry and ferdinand oms they just insane and walcott will be a star one day

on paper england has the strongest team on the planet, on the pitch however they fail

In my brain although im sure wiki could give you better info wrt where players went - cantona/ferdinand/woodgate/boyer all played for leeds they had a wonder team at one stage - much like west ham utd.

J

Don't forget Smith here...fine dedicated player. (and ps cantona THE Legend :) )

A terrible decision if you ask me.

seconded, but there is a further way to address the issue and that would be to force clubs to spend an 'x' % of profit/turnover on youth development.

Yeah but Arsenal were never in debt - was before they built emerates was it not - liverpool are heavily in debt atm for the first time in decades... - J

A terrible decision if you ask me.

It was already in effect years ago or something similar limiting foreign players - the league became horribly boring and declined - hence the revamp into the premier league and not what was termed the old 1st division - foreign blood revitalized the dying english league - without it the league was falling in to disrepair...

No way man - it would make the league much more competitive and balanced, like all the lower divisions are right now.

Indeed. I know what you are talking about - I just think that it might not be the same this time around.

Can forget being competitive in the champions league then :)

Also, imho it will just punish the 'less rich' clubs more, a very small amount of players that go through your academy will make it at the top level.. all the quality english players will have huge price tags and be snapped up by the clubs with the most cash... leaving the small clubs to play with the left overs

all you'll be doing is narrowing the transfer market... for all the teams..

Arsenal has tons of English talent in its academy anyway...

i dont agree with you about arsenal having having alot of talent which it may but i doubt it

i do however agree that all the big english players would be 20m or more and go tot he top 4

it would weaken the rest of the league very badly and i dont think teams like blackburn middles could get draws and beat the big clubs anymore

i hope this does not happen because the top 4 would dominate for ever
