Im not so sure about having the better team, I think its like everyone says, they have the more consistent team. They perform game after game and they dont put any game into the hands of ONE player. If something does go wrong they know the rest of the team will up their game to fix it. SA is also capable of that but Id say like once in every 5 games. Also Australia seem to have a concrete set game plan whereas we chop and change like mad. Heres hoping we have a cracker of a match today.Go SAF!!!!
I partly agree with that, but at the same time the Aussies are much better able to adapt and change their plans during the game. If plan A doesn't work for them they'll try something else.
SA seems very inflexible in this regard. I put this down to Smith's arrogance.
For instance, in the group stage game against Aus: the Aussie batsmen were hitting Ntini and Pollock all over the ground in the early stages. Other captains might have switched out bowlers, tried something different, but Smith kept on with Ntini and Pollock going for 10/12 an over. It's like he has to prove that he won't be cowed or intimidated. I dunno.
Smith's batting has (for the most part) been outstanding in this tournament. I realise that you need a degree of arrogance to captain, but I think that Smith's captaincy is adversely affected by being too arrogant.
Having said that: I detest Pieterson. I'd like to see SA win, and see Pieterson soil himself on the field. Yes.
