was wondering the same.. Nz had little chance after toss and almost none after 290 was set me reckons. Their top order has continued to struggle so i really didn't see them wining hence my comment when fleming came out.
The dropped catch by Bond cost them the match. Jayawardene got 45 runs off about 22 balls after the drop. Thats about 30 more then they would have gotten with a new batsmen. Probably the difference between 289 and 240 odd with the pressure on new batsmen etc.

yup, after the 1st ov by bond they looked fleming looked more and more pressured. I think he was expecting to win toss abd bat 1st. maybe that was their gameplan

What about Sri Lanka resting Murali and Vaas (and delaying the return of Malinga)?

Bond was horrific today, but the Lankies who rested played really well.

And it's all over, last batting pair for NZ put on a good fight.
59 runs off 10 overs. How they could have done with that after Styris went out. Lots of bad decisions from umps today. Silva, Dilshan, Flemming (hit outside line), Taylor (missing stumps), Oram (did not catch)

in a weird way it balanced out..hopefully nothing like that happens 2morrow. Anyone got advance reports on pitch etc?

Apparently it's very flat from the radio report i heard.

So we are going to want to bad first and try and handle whatever moisture there is. I think it's safe to say batting first wins more.
