2007 Cricket World Cup (West Indies) thread

Only people coming out of this match unscathed are Gibbs, Kemp (Although he pretty much blew it in some of the other games), Nel and Polly. Would also have left Polly on longer, he was cramping Hayden.
 
Prince was dead weight in this cup. Kemp held it together today but throughout the tourney he was no good. AB was up and down with the bat. Smith was good with the bat but he's a slow learner in terms of captaincy. Kallis, Bouch and Polly are pretty much permanent fixtures in our side with medium pacers and Pietersen making up the rest of our inconsistent team. Well Im glad we made it this far and I would've backed our boys to put up a huge total today but they didn't because of ONE reason: STUPID BATTING. Smith and AB always do well by taking it slow for the 1st 8 overs or so and then going for it but I guess nerves got the better of them and they folded. In any case, I still love you Proteas! Hope its an exciting final on Saturday..
 
Well this match was our opportunity to show we have BMT but it seems pressure always gets to us. Something I still wanna talk about after everything is done and dusted is this stupid quota thing. Even though it hasn't had a major impact on us in this tourney its sure to affect us in future. Its simple...we pick our best 11 based on talent and nothing else. If this k@k carries on its bound to bite us in the ass in future.

It did have an effect, what if we had Niel Mac coming in in place of Prince. He loves the Aus bowling, or a decent spinner like Harris or Henderson, would SA still have batted first. Although I do think this was the right move today, they were pretty much forced into it by not having a rounded team.

Quotas are not the answer. Grass root development is. Pour money into the development of cricket and less into the administrators pockets.
 
Yeah I guess you're right but politics rules everything in this country so ya...hot air. And there they win it. I feel like crying. We screwed up badly today.

i hope they get egged at the airport when they arrive
