The oke isn't too bright so if he wasn't allowed to make a future for himself doing what he knew what to do he was going to leave.

Last night's performance was embarrassing. If SA plays bad cricket then what type of cricket do ur teams Pak and India play?

I dont think hes stable or smart enough to be captain, and mistakes thats the point he played by the booked very standard very conservative no motivaion to his team lack of leadership and creativity.

Pak and India and SL are exciting teams they both have talent thats unrivaled in international cricket!!! They become the legends!!!
I doubt anyone will ever say a newbie player has a bit of Kallis in his shots, but they will say he has it from Tendulkar!!

If I don't I get sacked.... easy as that. There is a sense of stability in SA sport. If they don't perform it's ok we'll give them another chance... and another... and another.... and another.....

They should be stricter. If u under perform your out. You get a pay cut, you get dropped to domestic cricket and that is it. Then work your way up again.

Same for all sports in SA. The Bastards get lazy and then just don't give a rat's arse as they are firm in their spots due to contracts. And if dropped they still get the pay they signed for. This is what is wrong with SA sport !

The whole pay structure and contracts should be re-evaluated. I'm sick of this Crap... We lose in the Super 14, we lose in the CWC, and we will lose in the Tri nations and so the World cup in Sept. And guess what the players just don't give a ****. as long as they get their R 40+k a month their happy.

I think you have your stories mixed up. First of all he was playing in the Natal B team when the story of quotas came about. Now him and his farther decided to go and chat to some of the Natal union bigwigs in order for them to able to "secure/assure" a place in the side. Now, in that particular season he was avaraging less than 20 runs and he has the balls to demand a spot. As talanted as he is, NO ONE can demand to have a spot in ANY team.

This was covered in his interview with Sports Illustrated, I will try and and get an online version. But when I get home I will post which issue it was published in and we can ALL get the facts right.

I would like to remind people that there is no real "professional" club league that a cricketer can get involved in South Africa, that will pay him well. The only professional league we have is the national squad. I have been told that anything below that and you dont make sufficient money.

Yip our guys get paid peanuts till they make the national side, and then there a if they make it, and at age 24-25 you need to have some financial backbone and crickets isnt doing that for them!!
But Rugby on the other hand is totally different!! With the same crap results...

The problem lies much deeper than the 11 players who played yesterday and the 15 in the squad. There are obviously issues at school, club and provincial level that need to be addressed.

The Australians are obviously doing something right when older guys like Hussey and Hodge can walk straight in to the National team and excel at the highest level.

On the flip side of that, younger guys like Tait and M Clarke start off their careers with the mental strength and technique needed to be the very best.

Actually South African rugby is looking pretty good right now. We have two teams looking at Semi final places in the super 14. Also, this year's Super 14 has brought to the fore many talented players, and even made veterans up their games. I think there is a very large pool of players emerging in SA rugby, and there is a lot of competition for these lads to do their best. Super 14 made rugby a very very big sport, and lifted Southern Hemisphere rugby to new levels. Added that it's made many players financially secure, meaning that they are true career players. Cricket needs a Super 14 type of tourney badly - the step up from provincial to national is simply too great for South Africa, and the financial rewards are seriously disconcerting for the junior guys to really make it a career.

Here on the other hand if you go to KES chances are you aill have a better chance of playing for the national team!!! Just my opinion!

Yeah and it was even mentioned yesterday that their club cricket is stooped in tradition and their clubs are "financially stable which isn't the case in SA". I don't know true that is but you're right that for people like Hussey and Hodge to just walk into the best cricketing team in the world and perform is testament to the fact that their system WORKS, I'm not saying ours doesn't, it's just not as good as theirs.

But now. Why should they be getting the High lvl contract if they play k@k ?
I can tell you that Kallis, Graham just to metion a few would have huge financial trouble if they where to have a pay cut. Don't you think that axe over their head will force them to perform ?
