yes, but this will determine whether we finish 3rd or 4th....
remem, 4th plays 1st place... and 3rd plays 2nd place...

To help SA to 3rd place... Eng mst win
To help SA to 4th place... SL must win...

make sense?

Batting first or second makes no difference to the nett run rate.

See what NZ did to Bangladesh the other day? That's what we need to do to get our nett in positive territory.

For example: yesterday we had to bat at around 4 rpo to reach the target. We managed this, slightly ahead of the 35 overs. If we'd reached the target in 20 overs it would have made far more of a difference to our nrr.

I still believe though that the other big teams all still need to face Aus - which will lower their NRRs.

Also, as long as we keep winning our NRR will improve, and be less of a factor. :D

uhmmm... it does... cos if we bat first, then make huge total... our run rate is high. and we bowl them out for less runs... bigger difference...

if we bat second, our run rate won't be as high... however if they do score faster batting second, it will make a difference...

thats where the problem lies... scoring faster...

Well we should just bat faster, even when chasing a small total.
