hj2k run rate makes no difference if you ask me

sri za nz aussies will make the semi's

we are to scared to loose i agree with glenn mcgrath, the aussies always go out and smash the runs off with ease because they are fearless, we always choke because we scared

i wish bosman would replace prince grrrrrrr

NRR is going to be important, it will decide who plays who in the semis... 4th play 1st, and 2nd plays 3rd...

And, at least prince scores... what about kemp? he's not been in form lately... not much practice...

uhmmm... it does... cos if we bat first, then make huge total... our run rate is high. and we bowl them out for less runs... bigger difference...

if we bat second, our run rate won't be as high... however if they do score faster batting second, it will make a difference...

thats where the problem lies... scoring faster...

No it doesn't. Bat second = bat faster to increase run rate. The total makes no difference, it is the difference of run rates.

I think so too, in the end. Still think we should try to bat faster though...

At least Kallis batted at nearly a run a ball yesterday

He did - till he got close to his fifty - then same old Captain slow came true to form. We all know Kallis can play aggressively, but when he starts batting for that average then the team wishes seem to go out the window.

At the moment SA seems to bat only just fast enough whether setting or chasing.

And yes, yes, you need a total. But it is the total divided by the overs, so if we had made it in 20 overs yesterday it would have had the same effect as if we'd set up a huge total and Ireland got halfway there.

The damn commentators were loving him! They tried to say that a strike rate of 71 is good. Then they got all the best batsmen of today and yesteryear and found that they all had strike rates of more than 80. Then they reckoned, well it is clear that anything over 70 is good....

Please!!

yes, agreed nrr is calculated with run rate differences.. me saying: of late SA bats more aggressively in first innings... hence they bat slower in second innings to guarantee victory... thats there gameplan... save wickets till last 15 overs.. whether it be first or 2nd innings...

Is sabc showing cricket today?

Speaking of commentators... wtf is with Darryl Cullinan's super negativity these days? He was nearly willing the SA batsmen out in the first few overs

//edit - was Warne hiding somewhere in the commentary box?

While it was raining yesterday, the R2000 commentators where reading out emails, including one or two that were a leetle critical of Kallis. Sheesh! The one commentator was spluttering, he was so incensed. "I think that is, frankly, disrespectful!"
:D

Yeah, his average may be 156 , but its still too damn slow.

Nope. R2000 ftw!
