Well if we make 350 off 40 overs I don't think we have to worry about our bowling.

Unlike some people I know, we would be able to defend 434...
 
Yup.. aussies bowled them out.. BUT look at the runs scored in that period. If i was an aussie supporter i'd be worried bowling second. Granted they went out looking to smack them all over the park if possible but still.. considering that the wickets obtained were more lbw's and miss queued hits that better teams might not do. I think Aus in the super 8's might leak runs as predicted if they don't make early in roads and even then, lower order batting will save some teams.

Indeed. They got off to a good start, NL. Were 31/0 after 5 :)

If they had more than one batsman then Oz would have been in trouble.
 
Cool thing is SA restricted them to 4 more runs in 40ov's which might be a good thing as it shows we can cut down the scoring.. but again this would be reading to much into it as holland didn't try nearly as hard to smack SA around and with that comes opportunities for wickets to fall as shown in Aus game. i.e. its all up to sat. But Game tomorrow will be good.. If SA can pull off another large run fest 400+ I hope when it would be good :D

.....whether you make 200 runs or 1000 runs is neither here nor there. Getting high scores, or lots of sixes is secondry to winning the match.

You guys have focused all your comments on big scores, which is nice, but unfortunaltey you didnt finish that match off in a good allround professinal way. Dutch batted right through the 40 overs which says your bowlers are either complacent or not up to scratch.

Having read and said all this i have to say that all these petty comments (including mine) are neither here nor there.

A win is a win.:o
 
Maybe the Australian and South African supporters can make their comments after they've played each other. It's totally pointless comparing performances in these games which are essentially practice matches. I'm referring to Australia and South Africa's matches particularly.

It's obviously a much different scenario for the likes of West Indies, Zimbabwe, Pakistan etc.

But yeah, comparing how badly each team thrashed The Netherlands is futile.

Oz do that all the time, and actually Glen Maccgrath complemented SA on that game. I read what he said, and if you read between the lines, he praised you guys.
 
The comment on leaking runs is not based on WC games but games prior to it.

Take current SA team, add Ntini to line-up.. bowling = sorted! :D

India made 413/5 in their 50 against terrible Bermuda. I think someone could get 500 against them still.
 
The SA vs Aus game is going to be a game of note.

It might just give an indication as to what is going to happen further in the tournament.

And the rivalry.... As bad as SA vs NZ in Rugby! Always good for a lot of talk and comments etc.

Go SA!!!!!!!!!!
 
I'm holding fingers crossed for zim, com'on another 2 wickets and windies will be in trouble or atleast on a tentative backfoot..
