2008 Ford Focus ST-2

But try go to the owners forum ... those guys are amazing!

I simply ask them why the car compares to cars with less power and get flamed. I get told that I need to backup things ... so I post about 6 road tests by CAR magazine backing me up. All of a sudden they're not valid because they can't drive ...

So I post a few at the reef ... but they're not valid either because they can't drive.

They also then tell me that Golf GTI's are actually 160 odd KW, regardless of the 147kw rating. Hmmmm

I post quarter miles for my car (stock 1800 at reef) and get a quarter mile 'only' 1.7 seconds off turbo 2.5 litres. They then ask me to leave.

Odd, fanatical bunch that!

Your car has no street cred, its unfortunate, but really any street racer knows the Rsi is slooooow, I dunno whats up with yours and your reef stats, you stay in JHB, so live in JHB;)

I'm not talking of my car ... I'm realy not that stupid.

Fact is the claimed for the ST is 6.8 in stock form and it doesn't achieve that - or close to - in in SA test I've read. Fact

I'm also talking of an ST being able to beat anything on the road. It's a fantastic car - especially at the price - but seriously they have to at least use tested figures as a guide if they don't want to believe them.

Two or three SA motoring magazines get them at the similar 0-100km/h to a 147kw GTI. Fact. Don't tell me the GTI secretly has more power ... don't tell me no one can drive ... don't tell me figures are faked ... don't tell me a race is longer than whatever is next to them ...

Time to accept there are cars which may be quicker

Glad you accept that!!
So what does your car do against a PGTi? Barring "claimed" figures...

I've never raced a Polo GTI ...

And btw? Figures I post aren't claimed - ever. They're usually real tests done. It's not fault if you want to believe or not believe them. But as the ST boys tests mean nothing and you have to race properly to get a real figure ...

In that case, why can't I believe my car can keep up with a Focus ST, BMW 130i or Audi S3? I'm right according to them. You believe your Golf 1.6 runs RSI's ... so I guess we'll leave it there until you decide to ever test your car with me?

MAZDA 3 MPS FTW!!!
You all envy that car's POWER ;)

The Focus ST can have more power, way more. It has one KW less than the Mondeo ST, which is a 3.0 6 Cylinder naturally aspirated.

Seat Leon Cupra! 177Kw! R264,000

The 2007 Golf V Gti pushes out in the 160's kws. Thats what they are probably talking about. The 147kw Golf V was the older version.

Doesnt mean that it has more kw or one less kw it is faster.

And the older version did the 0-100km/h in 7.67 vs 7.5 for the ST when tested both at coast and reef ...

I wonder if that makes the GTI quicker than the ST now?

Its 13kw+ on an already powerful engine... the turbo is the only change with a remap... so its definatley quicker.

aaaaaai

KW means nothing. So many more factors need to be considered.
