2008 Ford Focus ST-2

Not to derail this thread, but I never liked those extremely busy stalks on many Japanese (east-block) cars.

No it doesnt. KW cannot be the only judgment on weather car will outrun another.

Power to weight ratio
Power delivery

Nobody mentions torque at all? Kilowatt definitely isn't the only factor for 0-100, etc.

I hate the bottons that you have to press/pull or turn on german cars! Has a certain old-man feeling to it and i always forget to turn them off again, stupid i say

08 GTI 177KW done through software mapping and anyone who tells me that there is no difference between the 147, 160 and 177KW motor is smoking there socks.... as for torque, if you look at the figures it also goes up to 350NM.

The new ST is sexy looking, any idea when its in SAfrica?

Focus - 1890 kg
Golf - 1364 kg

Thats alot of weight

Yeah but the Focus is technically in a different class to the standard hatchback, it's more a family car. I dunno what the term is and I'm too lazy to go google it :p. Open the boot of a Focus then open the boot of a 1-series, 147, Golf V etc and you realise this. The steep rare window gives it that hatchback look.

Anywayz, saw the ST-2 last week. It looks mean. Was going to buy one...insurance quoted me R3000/month:eek::eek:

Must say the "old" version is much nicer though. This one looks to "clean" and feminine.

I think it looks awesome, but the interior is still a let down. Like the voice activation/BT and the start button - small things but cool. Will they offer it with a "DSG" version i wonder. Pity the power train is still the same - its now the weakest of the hot hatches with the highest fuel consumption... still worth it for R250K - Perhaps the wife needs one (hehehe)

lion fish: Dont know what your budget is but if I was you, I will wait for the Focus RS. Gonna cost in the 25 000 range.

It's got 300Bhp (225Kw) and 400+Nm torque. Apparently 0-60mph in less than 6 seconds. Looks great too.

I admit that I will first wait till the car is tested by motoring magazines because 300Bhp is a lot of power to go through only the front wheels . The quaife LSD and ReVonuckle sounds great but the real world is another story.

Hope it all works!!!

Good luck!

The Focus RS is going to be really cool... can't wait for it, and revonuckle is very cool when compared the the current mcpherson strut setup so it can handle torque a lot better and add the ls diff to this and you have an even better combo...

Currently rumours are it can do the Nurburgring Northen slope in less than 8:16... that's almost 20s faster than the ST and faster than a Subaru WRX STi...

@JK - The RS has around 225 kw and it's not even worked yet... although it uses the same 5 cylinder block, it uses a new head design, intake and exhaust manifold design, larger turbocharger and various other components to easily make that power... so when they start software tuning these monsters it's going to be seriously quick...
