2008 Ford Focus ST-2

And the older version did the 0-100km/h in 7.67 vs 7.5 for the ST when tested both at coast and reef ...

I wonder if that makes the GTI quicker than the ST now?

Have you noticed what a stock ST can get on a 1/4 mile? 14.5s... or what do the books/mags tell you?

Yeah but the Focus is technically in a different class to the standard hatchback, it's more a family car. I dunno what the term is and I'm too lazy to go google it :p. Open the boot of a Focus then open the boot of a 1-series, 147, Golf V etc and you realise this. The steep rare window gives it that hatchback look.

Anywayz, saw the ST-2 last week. It looks mean. Was going to buy one...insurance quoted me R3000/month:eek::eek:

Must say the "old" version is much nicer though. This one looks to "clean" and feminine.

Its for dead bodies...

The Focus RS is going to be really cool... can't wait for it, and revonuckle is very cool when compared the the current mcpherson strut setup so it can handle torque a lot better and add the ls diff to this and you have an even better combo...

Currently rumours are it can do the Nurburgring Northen slope in less than 8:16... that's almost 20s faster than the ST and faster than a Subaru WRX STi...

@JK - The RS has around 225 kw and it's not even worked yet
... although it uses the same 5 cylinder block, it uses a new head design, intake and exhaust manifold design, larger turbocharger and various other components to easily make that power... so when they start software tuning these monsters it's going to be seriously quick...

Ya im sure....

The problem with the Ford is that its 600kg heaver than the VW

Focus - 1890 kg
Golf - 1364 kg

Thats alot of weight

Holy cow, dude! Who told you that?!

VW Golf GTi - Mass as tested: 1494kg
Ford Focus ST - Mass as tested: 1493kg

Where on earth would they be hiding that ~600kg with two cars of almost exactly the same exterior dimensions? Did they make the bodyshell from lead?!

If you've got that May 2006 Car Magazine handy you might want to flip ahead a few pages and check the test of the Toyota Fortuner 4.0 V6 4x4 AT. As you'll notice, that 7 seater tank weighs 1917kg (as tested). You want to tell me that a Ford Focus weighs the same as that thing?!

The RS runs the same motor as the Volvo S60R. Anyone that's ever driven one of those will attest to the fact that it is probably the most underrated performance car on the road today. The power from that thing is something else. And, like almost all turbocharged cars, even more power is available when modified.

So I beat a Fiesta ST, sounded worked, idled unusually.
I know on paper he should have been faster, or more or less the same...

So what does that mean? It was quite easy.

it could have been the driver not driving right?

I doubt that... he knew what he was doing, He even braked at a yellow robot when I flashed him. He wanted to race as much as I wanted to!:)

On the Ford ST/RS...

I just saw in my daily papers motoring section that FORD UK has recieved more than 2000 orders for the 2009 Focus RS and more than 40% of those ordered are in ELECTRIC GREEN!

Will be a flood of green blurs up and down the highways ;D
