So Dude, why don't you go and google a bit more then come back and tell me how many hybrid vehicles have Ford sold thus far? Or should I save you the trouble and tell you that their sales are a drop in the bucket compared to Toyota and Honda?

Of course I was well aware of the Ford Escape before your post. My point is that Ford is an also-ran in the global hybrid business. They should have started focusing (no pun intended) on green technology long ago instead of building ever more of those massive Yank tanks and if they don't get their act together very soon they'll be gone for good. Simple as that.

They have SUV hybrids Ford Explorer Hybrid - apparantly voted the best SUV hybrid ahead of toyota and the rest in USA.

Why do they have to get rid of the best trucks in the world and are used by every company in the USA.
They just have to do some strategic shifting with they're products:
Europe - best @ building small cars
So why do they have to reinvent the small car in every country.

So what they are moving towards looks promiseing: retooling
Build the best selling and performing cars more in different locations:
Some USA plants are converting to build Focus bodyshells and send them next door to the Actual factory.
Same for all the other small, fuel effiecient cars etc.

World Pickup Truck - still to be named, replacing ranger variants etc. propably going to be the're current best selling pick up - F150.
They should have replaced the ranger with it along time ago, similar sized and much better will even give the Navara/Hilux a run for it's money.
Ranger was based on old chassis
They basically are getting rid of all the excess products and focussing on the 1's that are doing the best for it's class.

If you actually looked into the links you'd see some numbers on the escape...

2005 = 18,797
2006 = 19,228
2007 = 21,386

For the mercury...

2005 = 998

Yes, the Ford hybrid sales aren't as good as those of the market leaders yet, but it's starting take some of the sales as their popularity increases.

Now THAT's an understatement if ever I saw one!

The sales figures that you posted proves my point; not yours. Those numbers are frankly pathetic. The point that you're not getting is that Ford USA sucks at making anything but large pickup trucks. Why has eight years passed since the the oil price started exploding and Ford STILL do not have a hybrid vehicle that people are actually buying.

Toyota, in comparison, is selling as many hybrids as they can produce. In fact, by far their biggest problem in terms of selling hybrids is production capacity. Toyota (and Honda) correctly anticipated future market conditions back in the early 90s and today they are reaping the benefits. Why has it taken Ford more than a decade to respond? As I remarked earlier, if they don't catch a wake-up soon, they'll be gone.

100%, In almost all ways the UK has the best 2nd hand car market in the world! Far better than US or Oz for example (esp after C-19 & all). What you pay for what you get.
