Exactly. If you can, then why not? Price difference between 100 & 200 isn't super huge either...Same thing when 10Mbps was a new thing and people said 4Mbps is more than enough.

You need higher speeds to backup the internet![]()
Downloading FF15 with 4k textures in under 2 hours instead of 4?![]()

Yeah it's true, should have pricing up shortly.
Not to ask a stupid question, but is there any particular reason for 200mbps over 100? Other than downloading a huge amount of material .
I'm thinking 100mbs should be plenty for Netflix, online gaming etc?
Got a mail from Axxess about it today. The guys that did the connection to and in the house many moons ago claimed to be the fastest at 200 at that stage.
Maybe 200 would do for my 7 kids all playing online games at the same time![]()
7 KIDS?????????
So I have a question. When I had fibre installed it came with that GPON thing that my router plugs into. Now last I saw that GPON was only a 100mb device. So even though my router has gigabit ports I am connecting to the GPON at 100mb. So 200mb seems useless then if you can't get more than 100. Does this mean Telkom/ISPs will swap out that device?

Damn, was hoping it would be a small increase. I would have assumed that beyond 100Mbps usage doesn't change much.
R480 increase if you look at data only, and that the account is unmetered...
Gpon supports speeds higher than 100M, many ISP's though only provide a router with crap wifi and Ethernet ports that don't work higher than 100M, above is via 5G ac wifi in my home office. Make sure you get a good router with 802.11ac with MIMO antenna's and multiple GE Ethernet ports.
Which you can also see as half a thousand extra per month for something that makes an extremely marginal difference to anyone's life.
100Mbps is already fast. I'd be happy to pay a bit extra for 200Mbps just for lols, but not half a grand.
Make sure your network at home supports the speeds.![]()
