2010/2011 Transfer Thread

No-one wants them.... :cry::cry::cry:

True.

IMO none of the teams have addressed their main problem areas.

Man UTD need a DM and a Ronaldo replacement

Chelski need fresh legs

Liverpool need another forward and a winger

Arsenal need a goalkeeper and a DM

Tottenham and Man City need a world class player or two to take the next step up.

Barca re-evaluates transfer strategy after missing out on Fabregas
Monday, August 9, 2010 - 09:03

Barcelona is having to re-evaluate its transfer window policy after finally admitting Cesc Fabregas will not be arriving from Arsenal this summer.

The Spanish champions embarked on a high profile campaign to sign the midfielder, with players, coaching staff and political figures at the Nou Camp all joining what seemed an all-out attempt to prise Fabregas away from London.

Now, however, Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has finally admitted the move is off and instead of searching for another big-money signing he plans to look to youth instead.

"The Cesc issue is over," Bartomeu told reporters in Beijing, where Barcelona are currently on a pre-season tour. "It is a bad piece of news both in a sporting sense and sentimentally. Arsenal never gave us a price for Cesc. They declared him non-transferable.

“The Barcelona team still has weaknesses, but we'll now look at home first."

Here, Here!

Wrong and wrong. DM - we have Fletcher. And as for the Ronaldo replacement, we don't need another winger, we need an attacking, creative midfielder, but Scholes will do til he decides to retire.

hmm Fletcher is not really a DM is he. Sure he causes trouble in the midfield but he doesn't shield the back four. IIRC you were exposed badly in the CL last year.

But are either of those two wingers world class? Rooney is your only star player. If he gets injured season over IMO

Zanetti has renewed till 2013 and Milito till 2014. Meanwhile maicon was taken of the market by Inter. Balo's agent says he is working on the deal to city, mancio wants it done by thursday.

I think its a big mistake by Villa, o'neil was a great manager.

Moggie, thanks for the updates, but don't the questions at the end of each story irritate anyone else ? I find them bloody irritating,

We were exposed badly because we hardly ever had our first team back four fit. That would weaken any team.

I think our left back was the weakest link on sunday, without Evra Fabio/Evans sucked

No way dude if you want to play at this level you gotta jack up or stay as a sub :D

You have to remember that he has had practically no game time at that level. Rafael was fortunate that last season O Shea and Neville were injured a lot, but Evra hardly missed a game. I think he had an OK game, I do think he tried to be a bit flashy at times and was caught out, but all-in-all, not a bad game.

Have to Agree - He did a good enough job and is quick and comfortable on the ball - better replacement than Evans or Oshea

He is better than O'Shea and Evans at left back, but to be really good he needs an extended run in the first team and that's not likely to happen with Evra hanging around...

Well, he's 20, so he's got time to spare.

Depends on how good Evra is and if Evra stays fit or not... Suddenly he'll be 22 ad have bugger all experience because Evra makes himself undroppable. Rafael has more chance to shine, but more importantly, he has more time to hone his talent at the highest level. We'll just have to wait and see...

Liverpool's unsettled midfielder Javier Mascherano is determined to join Barcelona, according to his representative in Spain.

The Argentinian informed the new manager Roy Hodgson that he wants to leave Anfield last month, and has also been linked with Internazionale in Italy.

Speaking to the Catalan radio station, Com Radio, Horacio Zandonadi said: "The player and all of us would be delighted if he could end up at Barcelona. We're talking about a figure that is about half the size of what Barcelona were being asked to pay for Cesc Fábregas.

I don't really see that. Pep loves busquets and he is a home grown player. Is he really going to drop him for masch??

In the end I still see masch at inter come august 31.

Concerning giovinco, parma have an option to buy 50% at the end of the season. Good move giovinco. Finally a chance to shown whether the coaches are wrong in that he is too small to make a really impact at this level.
