2010 Coke Fest

My 5 bands would be:

1) The Offspring
2) Presidents of the USA
3) Radiohead
4) Foo Fighters

and even though it's only 1 dude:

5) FatBoy Slim

I think its 3 international and 3 local bands?

International:

1) Rammstein
2) Breaking Benjamin
3) Linkin Park

Local:

1) Prime Circle
2) Jesse Jordon
3) The Parlotones

I fail to understand people's affinity for Rammstein. It strikes me as one of those rebel bands everyone digs because everyone else digs them and because it's showing your non-conformity to dig a rebel band.

When you actually understand the meaning of their lyrics, it kinda kills it even more so.

Just my 5c.

Mine would be...

A Perfect Circle
TOOL!!!!!!!
Deftones
DevilDriver
Killswitch Engage
Meshuggah
Rammstein
Sepultura

I went to see Soulfly when they were in Joburg about 2 - 3 years ago. Wouldn't mind them at one of the Coke Fest. Max Cavalera is worth seeing live.

And any Coke Fest with Linken Park would get my money.

Hopefully the 2010 World Cup will affect the lineup positively.

I'm with you there buddy, I have a total dislike in industrial so that is where my hate stems from and Rammstein and Leibach is at the top of my list.

My best friend loves industrial, but I think he is just a closet techno head, will have to tell his family one day, will be a sad day for them indeed

Nine Inch Nails
Tool
Queens of the Stone Age
Pearl Jam

I didn't go to Cokefest 09 because that was too much cash to only see Oasis! Had Bullet and Red Jumpsuit not jumped ship, I would have been there!

My request list for 2010:

Slipknot
Killswitch Engage
Rise Against
Funeral For A Friend
Foo Fighters
Linkin Park

Metal pretty much has no chance in SA - just not cost effective for most of them to tour. Most of them pretty much come to SA on a kind of 'working holiday' vibe.

Pay your cash - go to europe for 10 days and catch a two real full weekend metal fests. Seen almost every band I want to in the last 4 years of metal fest pilgrimage.

Off to watch soulfly, manson, motley crue, amon amarth, manowar, wasp, gorgoroth (god seed), gojira, sacred reich etc et etc in june this year. All in about 140 bands over 2 weekends. Plus as a extra perk we're catching AC/DC's last tour in amsterdam arena

last year caught iron maiden, priest and KISS.
Plus with the EU crowd not everyone wants to donder everyone all the time in hatfield style.

BTW, Opeth are crap live. Good band, but not a great LIVE band

Yup, caught them in 2006 - had to run and watch half set of Cradle as well. Not touring this year afaik. She's a fricken monster! One of the best, still want to watch a full set.

Really looking forward to a full set of Cradle this year, and holy crap - MANOWAR! Theres a lot of thrash/gore/black on the lineup this year... should be great.

@BCO:
It was blackwater park era in 2006. I think if they were the only band I saw they would've been awesome but after some of the other bands they just put me to sleep. They were supposed to play last year as well but pulled out last minute

BTW: apparently when bullet pulled out of coke 2009, they actually had alerted the coke organisers quite a while before it was publicised... but that would affect ticket sales then wouldn't it...

Yeah I think maybe at a very high energy metal festival with a lot more brutal bands playing faster/shorter songs Opeth might seem a bit slow and chilled.

On their own though, I would love to see them.

Ok I ahve seen

metallica
Hoobastank
slipknot
Korn
machine head
Sum41
Linkinpark
ill nino
Cradle of Filth
Soulfly
Pennywise
36 Crazyfists
Drowning Pool
Bullet for My Valentine
Bowling for Soup
Soil

All were awesome. Would go to CF if 2 of these bands and another nice band played in 2010.

yeah, I've hit Graspop fest in Belgium every year since 2006 & this year again with a turn at Hellfest in france then AC/DC in Amsterdam.

Now that the pound has taken a well deserved beating I'll look into Download a bit more. Nothing beats 60 000 metalheads just partying.
